Soooo, we just got back to our hotel in Tampa after having a really great day...then we walked up to Amber's brand new , (one week old) 2013 Victory Red Camaro in the parking lot. Yup, you guessed it, low and behold someone left us a wonderful present...a brand new dent & scratch (down to the metal) smeared with white paint right smack in the middle of the passenger door! Oh my Lord was she pissed So we call the police, they come out...and tell us there's nothing they can do?! We have pictures of our car, the white car with the Victory Red paint still on the door and their license plate # too...but there's nothing they can do because it would be an invasion of their privacy?!...

REALLY?
What about the invasion of clearcoat, base coat, primer and metal?!

I don't know what is wrong with people and our justice system today...what I do know is that Amber is frothing at the mouth and is contemplating sitting on the trunk of their car to wait for them

I've been in the same exact situation for mine. That guy was lucky we were in my works parking lot by the security guards...or I'm afraid he might have had a flat or two.

I am not able to leave thursday. I have a quiz in statistics i have to take on Friday morning and i cant miss it since their are no make ups. So i am going to my two classes which are over at 10 driving back home and picking up the Camaro and my dad and will leave from there. I should be on the road by 11 which will get me at the hotel around 3 just in time to unload my car, get my registration info and get ready for the cruise. I was a little upset when i looked at my calendar and saw that i couldn't miss this friday but oh well at least i can make every event that is being held.

That's BS. The cop probably just didn't want to bother with the paperwork. The evidence was right there. It wouldn't have taken a forensic scientist to figure out who did what.

so, sounds like a civil suit.
or....
we live in the age of the internet.... I bet you could find out who it is yourself and file a claim against their insurance... probably wouldn't work and you'd have to resort to the civil suit but .....

damn... that really sux.

EDIT: I just told my wife about this... she has over 20 years experience in insurance... she says simply turn it in to your insurance will pics of both cars and the other car's plate number... they'll find out who it is and what insurance carrier they have.... no "privacy" issues there! Your insurance won't want to pay if they can get another company to pay.

Totally sucks. Anyways, I had a nasty ding with paint taken off right on the crease of my front fender. Hit it hard enough to knock the Camaro letters off. Mine is VR as well.

I had it repaired at Ferman Chevrolet in Tarpon on US 19 North. Gordon Chevrolet does good work and so does Stingray Chevrolet in Plant city. I would NOT take it to Dimmitt Chevrolet. Crooks and do shitty work.

That was 2yrs ago and it's FLAWLESS and even has identical orange peel. Not one person has ever noticed nor can i.
