Go with 225/60R18 either Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin X ice and you will be good to go!

Yea i am going to do the same on the 18" steel wheel.

But does changing the tire size from 245/55/18 to 225/60/18 have any negative effect?

Goodyear Eagle UltraGrip is the OEM size but is the performance not as good as the bridgestone or Michelin?

Actually the slightly narrower 225 will work better in the snow as it cuts down to the pavement better. The 225's work great on a Camaro. The Goodyears are not quite as good as the Bridgestone or Michelin in this case.

Looking to replace the front tires on my 2010 ZL575. Can anyone suggest a good replacement. I put about 21,000 on the first set of tires. I want a smooth great handling tire with all-season capability. Living in NC and do not plan to drive her in snow and ice.

Thanks

The Conti Extreme DWS or General Gmax AS would be your best options.

Has anyone used Firestone Winterforce on their car? If so, what's your opinion of them?

I was also wondering that when you put your summer tires back on, do you have to reprogram the TPMS if the wheels are put on in the same position.

Hi Rudy,

I purchased my used 2010 LLT at the very end of July. I am now considering the winter months ahead as she is my DD.

My hubby will be driving us to work in his Accord if there is snow on the ground in the morning. However, there is always the chance that some light surprise snow will fall on a day I drive or on a day he doesn't go in to the office. With that in mind, I want to plan for sludge or an inch or less of snow. My commute is about 20 miles round trip.

As of today, my stock Pirellis have 15,800 miles on them. A penny test shows the tread hitting where Abe's hair and Forhead meet.

I am not familiar enough with the Pirellis to know how much more life they have in them. I am trying to decide if it makes logistical sense to purchase winter tires and keep the summers, or if the summers will likely need to go soon, as well.

Thanks!

Rudy,

When changing the tire size from 245/55/18 to 225/60/18 is there any adjustment to the spedometer needed? Also would there be an adjustment needed if you change rim size?

Winterforce are a valued price snow which are better than any all season in snow by a good margin. On Ice and packed snow they are not as good as a Blizzak or Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow..

The sensors should work fine. Worst cast is you would follow the relearn procedure in the manual.

It sound as if your stock Pirelli's are just about done. I believe that would be ok with an all season tire that you could run year around as long as your only planning on using the car in an inch or less. However never know when you could get caught in a large storm and thats where the winter tires would be best. Please give me a call and we can discuss this in a little more detail and then I can finalize some recommendations.

No they are the same height. These will work fine no adjusments needed.
