Ill be contributing to this thread very soon! but just as a reference my 2007 Malibu 4cyl is getting 25.5 MPG with an average speed of 40 MPH. Im hoping for right around the same gas mileage with the Camaro we shall see.

The Camaro will have a much higher drag (LT less than the SS due to the mail-slot, but not much less).
I agree and I didn't mean to make an "Apples to Oranges" comparison. Drag and weight will make the difference. In the A4 Vette we are turning 2000 RPM at 70 MPH and getting a consistant 26-28 MPG with 3200 LB of weight. The M6 will do even better. A non RS 1LT M6 Camaro is about the price of a used 2004 ZO6 with no warranty and less build quality. The new EPA test is tougher on a "new Camaro that on that "old" Vette.

Love my Vette, tired of fixing it. It has the best drivetrain of any vehicle I have ever owned. It's the rest of the car that causes the headaches.

I did not order the RS due to the cost to replace the PZeros and the HID headlamps when they do go. I did not get an SS due to the cost of that extra HP that I cannot use anyhow or anywhere.

You don't have to replace the PZeros with PZeros... there are other lower cost, z-rated 20 inch tires....

I think he was getting at any 19" or 18" tire will cost less that the same style / manufacturer 20" tire.
of course something he didn't touch on was the additional maintenance costs of the SS over the V6 models, for brakes, struts and such...

Last tank was 20.3 MPG so mileage is going up! And I'm driving harder and harder all the time. Winter is still really cold here too!

my last tank of gas (which was also my 3rd tank ) I had 23.2 MPG mostly country posted 55mph driving with small towns inbetween slowing to 25mph. I'd say 50/50 hwy/city I beat the crap out of her a few times a day though. I filled up yesterday reset the counter, doing my best to stay under 3krpm while accelerating I am getting 26.2 mpg (according to the computer). I am sure I will drop that today though.... Its nice outside!

What am I missing? I now have 6k miles on my V6 and seldom (maybe twice) have achieved over average 18mpg on it. I have a driving mix of 70% city and 30% hwy. Even after a computer reset on the hwy, i've never seen the sunny side of 25 mpg. I take it to the dealer and he gives me the big "I dunno". He said they checked the computer set up and it all checks normal. I normally don't drive it hard - except for this past week because I like the the sound of my new MRT exhaust!

mine shows about between 22-23 mpg. I have about 1,684 miles on it. Do you reset the mpg anytime?

I'd say my driving is about 70% highway and 30% city-like as well and as far as I know I'm averaging about 23. Not sure what is up with yours tlubeskie

you guys should try driving a constant 55-60, for this 5 mph the computer goes in to highway mode and gives you great gas miles it is a lil seceret gm uses in there programing, i found it while trying to do some tuning on my older tpi computer. after talking to a gm factory tech guy at the sema show he did confirm it, i did this with my dads 06 tbss and got 20mpg on stright highway at 55-60mph sticker said 18 lol, even when i had my 06 g6 same thing 55-60 and i got 32-33mpg, once the motors break in after around 5k miles you should see an improvement

I had been getting about 23 average. My daily drive is about 4 miles of residential, then 26 on the freeway and then 3 miles to the office.

Then I started focusing on shifting early and often, rarely letting it over 3000 rpm when just driving around town. Mileage went up to 24.5 or a little more.
