That should be interesting...............

All things are pretty even right now. We have the same exact exhaust except I have HF cats, Randy has stock ones, both have OTR CAIs only difference is the tune!!!

All of this LS3 talk is driving me crazy. What can be done for the L99 at our altitude as far as bolt ons and programming. Forced induction is way out of my budget so I am thinking I am limiting myself to intake, exhaust, and maybe tuning. What can I expect for this and what is a ballpark price for tuning?

Don't feel bad. A supercharger is out of several of our budgets right now. Several of us have had our exhausts done at BDM Performance (303-922-5280). I think he charges about $700-750 for an cat back system. Then Clint at AIR (303-250-1466) can hook you up with a dyno tune for about $325 (may be more for the auto). I did a search on the members classified section and found the exact intake I wanted for about half of retail.

Hope that helps.

I opened the last can of worms when someone asked about mods...I'm not opening this one up too!

Thanks for the information and the contacts.I currently know nothing about the new motor stuff. I think I need to figure out what intake is the best for my low budget application. I will have to try to get to a get together and here some of the exhaust systems to help make up my mind I guess.

Too late...you did this one too Tom....bahahahaaha

Kirk...so let me get this right. You want to sell a defective Vararam to someone you know...?

Julie is the best driver in the universe!

Randy....You should be much lighter with all the clear coat you have buffed off.

Randy and Kirk and Ricardo are all l99's. Plenty of basic mods can be done. Cats and mufflers are a big gainer right off the bat. Deletes can be done for less than 300.00....Tune for 325.00 HP tune on a dyno by Clint@Air.
Then from there you can do anything you want. Ported heads, cam, fuel delivery, Cai. Its all baby steps till something breaks then is all in....lol

Brian- got jokes tonight ! LOL
Seen a few posts about bad MAFs, I have a higher lift cam and expect some issues, but I'd like to know how you found out your MAF was a bad one. I'd really like to clear up some of the surging I'm experiencing.
Thanks!

seems odd that they would not just send a new maf sensor.
its like 1000 times easier and cheaper than putting a whole new cai in...

Whats up with that really?

Data Log your cars and you should be able to tell if you have a maf related issue. The fuel trims should be going all over the place when you go open loop. Also if you had a maf issue a code would be set and you would be setting off your lean codes...providing vector did not just turn them off.

More air in with less air out could be the major cause of your surging in my opinion. I know Kirk is still stock exhaust manifolds but not sure about scourage's (name mind blank sorry) And stock exhaust valves you could just be bound up like an old dog after eating a steak.

Sounds like a tune issue with surging much more than a maf issue. Winter blend fuel is also a terrrrribble (charles Barkley imitation) thing to base drivablility off of. A little water here...a little ethanol there...inconsistant octane and stoich.

It would also be prudent to double check the fresh air line from the cai to the crankase to make sure it is not kinked or collapsing under vacuum. This would be the simplest fix.

OMG....I hate to think I am learning anything about these cars....This is freaking scary! Ted help me...save me... Clint I am not talking to you again...Brian you too...And Tom this was all your fault! lol

Larry
