So windy here today. Decided to take some photos while taking my lunchtime walk, but the wind was blowing me around. Jeez.

Driving to work Monday morning, I felt a little bad for not washing my car on Sunday. Driving home in all that dust and wind, I was like, "Yep. Good call not washing my car yesterday"

Yup, I agree with you! Didn't wash my wife's car or my Dakota on Sunday.

Some of my pool tiles came loose over the weekend. Someone is coming today to provide an estimate. Can't wait to see this.

What would make your tiles come loose?

Hopefully it is an easy to fix leak, or fitting.

Water runs over the spillway between the spa and the pool bowl. These are the tiles that are loose. The estimator said it only takes one small area of grout to wear down and lets water soak behind the tiles. There are about 12 loose tiles.

I've recently had difficulty balancing PH and alkaline. That may have contributed to the grout failure.

Well that stinks! Good Luck with the repair!

Didn't you just have the pool put in? Seems like it would have to be repaired free by the pol company or the installer. I would be so P O.
Will you have to drain the pool?

It is less than two years old. We contracted with a large pool company that has been in business since 1958 and offered a lifetime warranty! However, when the company goes out of business and closes up, it all becomes a bunch of B.S. and now we get to pay other people to fix the pool. Fortunately, two issues we had shortly after completion were covered under warranty.

In the past three weeks, a thick calcium ring has formed around the pool. My PH and alkalinity have been out of control, and the water has alway had high cyanuric acid. CA is found in chlorine tablets and other types of solid chlorine. For convenience, we have been using the tablets, and my CA is WAY high! There is no chemical or process to remove it, so a drain and fill must be done. We have VERY hard water here, so keeping the water in balance has been a challenge. Since they would have to do a partial drain, we decided to go all the way, have the surfaces cleaned, then refill and attempt to take better care of our water. I'll be using liquid chlorine / bleach for daily upkeep, but when we go in vacation, I will have to use those tablets. Chlorine dissolves, but CA does not. And with the accelerated evaporation here, CA and calcium hardness are left behind. Replenishing the water adds more calcium (we have hard water here). It's just a vicious cycle, but I am learning.

Funny thing; I tested the pool water levels today and the free chlorine, combined chlorine, PH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness levels are all OK. I ran out of CA test material, but that does not go away.

And another tile came loose.

Rick, have you given any thoughts to converting to a salt water system? A couple of years ago a friend of mine put in a pool, and at the time the pool company was installing salt water systems. I ended up watching it for him (for about 3 years off and on) while he worked overseas... The system (I can't think of the company at the moment) worked really well. The pool stayed amazingly clean, and the system was easy to regulate. This was out in Surprise, and his only complaint was that the water looked more greenish than blue. Otherwise it was great! - Just a thought.

I might look into it, as I'm sure some of my equipment will need some sort of retro-fit.

Hope the pool is an easy fix.

I have not disappeared from the face of the earth. Just still down in the dumps. My daughter is going to come home for a few days in a week & a half. I wll be glad to spend a little time with her before heading down in late May to get ready for her surgery. I have not been able to get myself motivated to wash my Camaro or to go to a single club event. Just does not seem important anymore.
