ok stupid question time. How ? isn't gas usually a solvent, i mean would it disolve the filter over time or the metal grating holding it in.

Pretty sure he was joking, only use the Green Filter kits to clean and recharge your Vararam filters.

Seriously? They must be talking about "worse case scenerio" situations or there's a drawback to Vararam's location directly in front of the car.

I've cleaned reusable filters before and its kind of a PIA: Did I use enough cleaner? Did I use enough oil...too much oil?

The stock filter calls for replacement "at the first oil change after each 50,000 mile (80,000 km) interval."

Cleaning every 6K miles and requiring a specific cleaning kit is alot to expect for a company that has yet to produce a dyno graph to prove its worth.

I clean my filters of dust at home with compressed air and when the filter starts looking funky I buy a new one.

Honestly, it's not like cleaning the filter is difficult and the cleaning kit is cheap ($11.62 through Green Filter). For reference, a Fram stock paper replacement filter is about $20. The VR filter size is 4"x16" and the Green Filter cleaning kit says 1 spray of oil per 2 sq. in. 32 sprays of oil and you're done. It's not up for interpretation on the amount of oil to use like the K&N kit.

Green Filter USA is the one recommending the 6k mile cleaning interval (or 6 months), not Vararam.

I understand but following GM guideline you're going to spend that $20 for a filter once every 3yrs (avg annual mileage). Per Green filters recs you've cleaned the filter 6 times at $11+. That's not including the $400 cost of the Vararam.

I'll do extra maintenance and pay foolish amounts of money for extra HP, but I think its time for Vararam to put up some hard numbers and prove their worth.

You do realize you don't use the whole bottle of oil and cleaning solution each time you clean it, right?

Ok here it goes, we all know that Injen Long Tube used to be king here of the intakes pulling somewhere around 17-18rwhp. One of our members, 67GTO, switched over to Vararam. But befor doing so, he did 0-60s with the injen and then 0-60s with the Vararam after the learn process. Im pretty sure the conditions were similar and he got a bit better numbers to 60. 5.2 vs 5.28 or something like that. Now, its not like a massive difference but the main point of this is that it shows it has just as good performance as the Injen longtube, if not a bit better.

Now heres another thing to remember, this intake pulls 27rwhp 6000rpm up in third gear. These runs only saw second gear.

This car is day and night difference on the highway. I wish Vararam would put some official results up just to help them sell more intakes because the intake is great.

The only thing I wish this intake did was take 3 tenths off the 1/4 but people dont seem to be getting that, but once again that can be because of conditions. Who knows, hopefully more people hit the track and we can get some solid numbers and see what it does in the 1/4 mile

I'm sure its a good intake, but I think Vararam has had plenty of time to determine just how good it is and I'm encouraging them to step up and make a claim.

I guess if you're selling them as fast as you can make them, there is little motivation to provide people with info to help them make an informed decision.

The frequent maintenance was just the last straw I needed to speak up.

Yep, the Ingen and VR are about the same in my 0-60mph tests. Still hoping for a little more from 60-100mph with the VR.

I like the the look and ease of maintenance of the filter with the VR.

I would suggest a non-oiled performance drop in replacement filter for you.

Everything you are asking for has been posted by VR. I been part of this thread since day one and recall them posting everything you are asking them to lay claim too. Just do a search on the forum or read the whole thread it's in here. And I would think us here saying the intake is awesome and works well isn't enough neither.
