funny how Mustang Vs Camaro threads get all this attention.

I advise no video or facts be given, otherwise the post will be closed. Lets keep it speculation, to keep it open.

What about a comparison between;
1 - Visibility - I LOVE my Camaro, but visibility out to the rear either way (backing up) is bad
2 - Rear seat room - same as Camaro ?
3 - Handling - LOVE the way my car handles, does the Mustang get even close ?
4 - Trunk space
5 - Seat comfort
6 - Wheel options

By the way... everyone always harps on the Mustang being so much lighter. What exactly does a buyer get when he orders one that light? Does he get power seats? Power windows? Sync system? 15" wheels? Cloth seats? Leather steering wheel? Floor mats?

If the base weight is based on a stripper model, only someone buying one specifically to race is going to get one built like that. Dealer stock ones are going to be brimming with options in order to make money off them.

If that's the case then the weight difference between any Camaro vs. Mustang random stoplight race will not be so great.

The standard equipment list for the Mustang is pretty good. Power windows, A/C, etc. are standard on all 2010 and newer Fords. The Premium GT has pretty much all creature comforts (Sync, leather, power seats, etc).
Here's a link for the 2010 Mustang equipment groups. All Track Pac cars start as Premium GT's.

You are sharp bro. i like what you did there
Look at what you just said. The new GT doesn't have to beat the Camaro's best run to be considered faster? Again, you're whole post was comparing driving skill. In order to compare vehicles, you need to have the full potential reached on both sides of the spectrum, and this includes having the driver to match its potential. Comparing vehicles with disadvantages, such as an average driver, is pointless.

No, the lack of a real basis for the claim does that on it's own. If I chime in and say I've run a 12.9 in a Mustang GT and promise that the car is bone stock are we going to believe that too? It takes more than just some random guys word for it.

Some need to separate what they want to believe from what is truly believable.
So what's you're saying is that this NHRAStocker took the time out of his day to become cool over a Camaro forum because he lied about a bone stock record. Sorry, not buying that either.

As fas as Mod for Mod comment I made, please read my post more carefully. I never mentioned gearing, specificaly was talking about the OHV LS3 vs fords OHC 5.0. Not trying to make this into an OHV vs OHC debate, but facts are facts. with about $3500 of parts (CAI, headers, exhaust, under drive pulleys, cam and tuned) you can have the camaro make about 480hp at the wheels for just $3500!! that is just incredible value. It is just not possible to significantly increase the HP of an OHC engine in N.A. form without spending waaaaayyy more $$. Hence why many ford fans has opted for force induction instead, which is completely logical. But it seems this coyote motor is very highly tuned in stock form and possibly have a compresion of 11:1 and while likely be not as blower friendly as before (didn't the 4.6 have a compresion of 9.9?)
see what I am sayin bro? but in stock form the 2011 mustang is going to be a fun drive, no doubt.
Well, we wont really know until rubber hits the road, but the buzz is that this engine is notably detuned in GT trim. How true is that? I'm sure it's true to an extent if only because we've got enough sources with a fair level of credibility that all say the same thing......basically Ford detuned the engine a bit for several reasons not the least of which is the allowance for a nearly 'free' power bump in the future when and if needed....the real question is how much is left in there and what needs to be changed to get it. Given what I've heard thus far it seems that this engine might respond well to a lot of the same things the LS engines do, specifically long tube headers, exhaust, etc. And of course, a simple tune apparently will work wonders. This is just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if this engine could crack the 500 crank hp barrier without ever touching a cam cover (ie: tune, full exhaust, cai, etc.)

As for the boost issue, no doubt you wont be able to crank the boost up quite so far anymore. That said, running less boost on a higher compression mill has advantages all it's own, and I've always been surprised by how well the realtively high compression LS V8's respond to even moderate boost.

are we comparing the Camaro Ls to the 11 mustangs or the Camaro SS because I don't agree in any category that any mustang will ever over come a 2SS/RS Camaro in style, power, comfort, ect. Just my opinion but I have never been a Mustang Guy I don't like cars that I see at almost every stop light.

Bolded years where Mustang outsold Camaro. Those not blinded by fandom will see that more likely that not, Mustang will outsell Camaro. The Camaro in 2010 had a two fold advantage:

1. New model
2. Ford's new powertrains have been no secret for the past 2 years.
The Camaro was also hindered by the fact that it had a twin its whole life. Add in the Firebird and then see how close the sales were.

I have an 05 stang but I am not a ford guy, I like all makes of cars. The Camaro looks better and performs better so, thats why I am getting one.

Its hard for me to believe a guy ran 12.6 when the manufacture of the product could only muster 13.1. Its also hard to believe when the person IN the video says, how much spray he added, and you hear a guy telling him to be quiet. Its also hard to believe that out of ALL the Camaro drivers and owners, NOT ONE person drives good enough to match this ONE TIME ET.

Man this guy must be the best driver on the planet. He should be racing in the NRA's, he would win every year.

The mustang has better visibility.

The rear leg room is identical, however I have been told* (I won't say i have sat in both because I haven't) that the mustang is a more comfortable rear seat because of the way it is positioned.

Mustang handles better.

I don't know trunk space, seat comfort is subjective, but I think gm has better leather than most fords from the vehicles I have owned.

Camaro has much better wheel options, in my opinion the mustang only looks good with the base gt wheels or the optional 5 spoke.

Hope that helps

There ya Go bringing up the "F" word again.... I am so Pissed Pontiac folded, I would KILL for a 2011 TRANS-AM Firebird.. My God thats my all time Favorite Car ever.. I love the Firebird / Trans-am. My First car was a 1971 Pontiac Trans-Am 455 HO White with Blue Strips. I miss her.. If I had Money I would buy every Gen Firebird..

I hope a Trans-Am Body Kit becomes avalable for the Camaro, I would do it.
