I am hoping the same thing won't happen with the 6th gen Camaro. I think it will not be as light as we are hoping. The Camaro is based on the CTS version of the Alpha platform I hear. I have been wrong before, but not about some things. I thought there would be a special 427 camaro (non-Z/28) in 2015. Missed on that one.

I bet Ford was shooting for lighter and something like the new F150 progam torpedoed the Mustang. And the Mustang group had to settle for mostly the old platform. And now eat crow, while the truck makes big bucks for Ford.

Something like slow Cadillac sales could hurt Camaro progress. But maybe it's too late in the Ca6 (Meaning 6th gen Camaro) development cycle for that.

AMEN. who wants to drive their car off the lot and have to spend $2000+ to make it look like good. That's 2000 that could be put into performance mods. The fugly, evo raped a catfish, 15 mustang is the very reason I switched from ford to chevy. Now we are finding out that they added enough weight to negate the hp increase. Only way im getting rid of my Camaro is if the 6th gen is just to much to pass on.

At this stage of the game, it looks like anybody buying a 2015 Mustang with any visions of running down 1LE 5th gens on the track is going to be looking at spending a whole lot more than $2000 in aftermarket purchases just for the obvious stuff (wheels, tires, and shocks/struts).

I agree that spending that much right away on a brand-new car just because you might not like the way it sits stock is just . . . bizarre.

Me - I don't even know when we'll be seriously shopping for another car. But if it's even going to see occasional track time, no matter what it ends up being it'll have to be able to run closer to the 2014 1LEs than the 2015 GTPP has at its introduction.

True! The 1LE package looks killer and actually is there for performance reasons ! Not just looks!

Not trading mine in but I'm waiting on the GT350 to come out. High revving 5.2L estimated at 600hp NA!

You see a Mustang or Camaro on the rd today and there's no doubt what they are. The new Mustang IMHO does not have that. Plus the rear is just ugly.
I would have totally agreed with you until last week when I saw it (several) in person when they started hitting the dealers here. I hated everything about the new design since the pics started showing up... front, rear, and especially the 'Camaro like' big hips. But in person, you get the 'whole' of the car, and it works. Beautiful. I STILL don't like the pictures...

Negative, I will not. Although it has absolutely nothing to do with the S550's appearance, performance or some misguided brand loyalty towards Chevrolet. I like the S550 quite a bit but, I made a promise to the wife that I'd stick it out with this car for the long run. I wouldn't mind getting another Mustang down the line but, I won't be trading my Camaro in for one. I'm hoping Ford makes a 2.7 V6 EcoBoost Mustang in the future. I'd jump all over that as a second vehicle. Especially considering how well the 2.3 4cyl EcoBoost is performing.

As far as performance is concerned, I don't track my car. I only took a couple of my, Mustangs to the drag strip and I have no intentions on tracking any of my future cars so, the overall driving experience is what I'd be after. I'd wager to say that the next few years will bring about several game changing platforms and power plants that'll hopefully be a blessing to us as enthusiasts.
