A little more permanent solution is to use plastidip as a base coat. It is actually more durable then just the paint alone. We did a plastidip base coat and a gold topcoat wheels came out amazing..

So....... any tips for this?

How big is the wrench your using? My torque wrench goes up to 250 lbs/ft and I have yet to have this problem.

But I'd suggest using a smaller wrench and/or being more careful.

Why do people not just plastidip their lugs too?

I tried every possible combination on my four wheels:

1) both lugs and sensor not painted
2) sensor painted, not lugs
3) lugs painted, not sensor
4) both painted

and honestly both painted looked the best to me. Just curious to hear what reasons people have to not paint their lugs

I have done my tail light bezels in Plasti dip and they turned out great. I like how nutmg14 used it on his mirrors. Does it affect the paint on the car at all? I had to respray my bezels, and was able to just peel the Plasti dip right off and start over. I am hesitant to spray it straight on my cars paint though and possibly having to pull it off for touch ups.

It technically is removable since the paint doesnt adhere to the wheel it sticks to the plastidip. It can be removed but might be a little harder then just plastidip. I wanted to show people this option because it is a lot more durable then just painting the rims and the paint holds up a lot better to rock chips..

I wish i would have learned about this stuff sooner. I wasted money on a vinyl front fascia and lower grille blackout. I may be getting a little carried away with it though...

Nice! It looks great

Would you ever consider using yellow plastidip to match your calipers? I think that would make it really unique to say the least!
