I don't think I would trade up either. And I don't think you will be disappointed in the "giddyup" or the gas mileage either. Averaging 22.5 so far.
I bought mine for the same reason "it's the hottest thing on 4 tires"

Patiently waiting.... what patience?

First let me say that my sales guy was great. He did his level best to keep me up to date knowing that I was counting every second while waiting. He made the comment that he wished GM would handle this more like Ford, in that he thinks customers should not have to order, we should be able to just purchase a car off the lot. Then there would be none of this waiting anxiety. That may happen a year or two from now when the assembly plant catches up a little more with the demand for this awesome car.

I ordered the first part of May. I knew about the car a long time before that and wanted one, but I didn't want to put my money on the car without having driven one. So I waited till GM released the "floor" models to the dealers in May. I bugged several dealers about once a week till finally one of the dealers called me and said that a truck had pulled up with two cars on it. I was at the dealer's showroom within 1/2 hour. When I got there he told me one of the cars had been previously ordered by a customer and that I could not drive it, but he would let me drive the other one ( a Victory Red V-6 Automatic ). We turned around to get into it and another sales guy was putting another customer behind the wheel and off they went. They were gone a looong time. But I drove it and loved it. Then the sales guy told me they were not allowed to sell it because it was their demo model. I wanted my wife to drive it or at least see it so I went home and waited for her to get home. We could not get back to the dealer for about 2 days. I called the dealer to see if we could go for a ride. He told me that they had sold the car! I was so upset I decided to ditch that dealer. I went to a dealer where a sales guy worked that had gone to high scool with my son. They had two cars in the showroom and we were told that we could not drive either one of them cause they were their "show" models. Well, in the meantime I had decided exactly how I wanted my car. So I ordered. A week or so later I found out that someone had bought one of the cars that weren't for sale. A few weeks later the other one went.

I found Camaro5 online and started reading every day. But I didn't join immediately. One day my dealer told me my car had a VIN and was being built. Whoo Hoo, now I'm getting excited. He said it would be here ready for me to take delivery by 10 July. I think it was the next day that GM put a QC hold on all the SS models with manual trannys. I found this out first on Camaro5. My heart dropped into my feet. I called my dealer and he had no idea this had happened. I told him it was a tranny issue. It took 3 weeks to clear the QC hold.

In the mean time I set up an account here on Camaro5. I think that was towards the end of July.

The car was finally put on a train. I tracked it across the country because of the info I was able to get from Camaro5. It really didn't take too long. I didn't have any rail car breakdowns or any of that kind of nonsense. The car arrived in SLC on a Wednesday night. I called my sales guy Thursday morning only to find out he was on vacation for a week. So I asked for one of the other sales people. For three days I couldn't get a sales person to return my calls. The "cash for clunkers" program had just started and they were very very busy.

I found out from a service guy at the dealership that the dealership was only 2 mins from the railyard. I think the dealer built there so they would not have to pay for trucking to get the cars from the railyard to the dealership. They just send one of the service people over to the railyard and drive the cars to the dealers lot.

I stewed all week and the weekend wondering whether my car was at the dealer or not. I finally reached my sales guy Tuesday. He said the car was at their "holding" lot. ( A Kia dealership that they own just down the street. ) I went and took pics. The car was prepped and stripes installed and ready for me the next day. Yee Haaaa.

Wow, I didn't know I was gonna write an epistle.

P.S. As you know I've completely changed my stripe design since I got the car.

ha ha no, Riverton I almost did go with Gus but I will tell you the story sometime.

Shoot how disapointed I am.. I guess some of us are still at 3300 9-28 while others have moved on to 3400 .. so sad

I saw a Red Jewel filling up for gas today and I stopped and gave him a Camaro5 card and told him how to find our forum.

I'd say the train ride and the time it sat i Oshawa, waiting, were the worst. Mine was finished on July 24th, yet didnt ship until the 31st.

Then worst parts are when it sits in some railyard in timbucktoo for a day or two, or three.

When you caught the train actually moving, it was cool. There was a stretch from Cheyenne that I tracked it all night long, called every half hour or so, and saw it getting closer and closer. The next morning as soon as I woke up, before I even got out of bed, I called and it was in SLC! That was cool.

So it gets to Roper Terminal here in SLC, on monday night, and sits there and sits there. I went on tuesday night and tried to see it, and I did! That was really cool, but sucked because it was there, wanting me, and I wanted it, but I couldn't get to it!!! I wanted to go with the salesman and pick it up, but the terminal office didn't have the paperwork for it, they kept saying it wasn't off the train yet...

Finally on thursday morning, I get the call: Its here, come get it!!!!

The rest is history

That's awesome where is roper terminal? I might be that bad and want to check I know out on the west side I do see camaro's come in to Brashers auto. I drive on 56W to and from work and always look to see if any new ones have come in for people. On average I see one a week there I guess some dealers probably pick them up from them.

I looked last night and half of my group of 9-28 people are now 3400. I am not yet one of those lucky ones.

I am so anxious about getting my car I tell myself to stay away from the website and try to take my mind off of the whole thing. Yet I my will power is not strong enough to do it lol..

Thanks for the stories.

Bring binoculars if you go, you cant get very close, but it was cool to see it.

Hey, where is everybody getting their oil changes done?

Anybody interested in 3 x $25 full and documented oil changes, (yes, with all 8qts of Mobile 1 for the SSs).

$75 for 3 oil changes, within one year or 15,000 miles, whichever comes first, starting the day and mileage of the first oil change.
Full synthetic Mobile 1 oil (or whatever you want),
done by a fellow 2010 Camaro owner, yours truly.....

No mileage or time restrictions (other than the 1 year, 15k miles expiration).
First could be in October, with 500 miles.
Second could be in November, with 1500 miles.
Third could be in April with 1501 miles.

PM me if interested

Sick of you? Not hardly. That's what we're here for girl. The wait is the hard part. We all know that. So, if you need to vent or whine, let 'er rip. We'll understand. And we'll support you as best we can.
