Hey Moose,
Picked up my black 2SS a few weeks ago and have been pouring over all the posts in this thread. Just wanted to thank you for your time addressing everyone's question. MY question is this: I will be having my stripes painted on the car shortly and have been holding off applying any wax or polish to the car for this reason. I read the posts regarding debris embedded in the paint due to rail dust, etc, and I gave my paint the "baggie over the hand" treatment and it felt like there was debris in the paint even though it has only been driven a few times. Should I clay the car before having the stripes painted since I am assuming that you don't want to paint over material that shouldn't be there and am I correct in not applying any Zaino polishes or treatments prior to the stripe work? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your time! Mark |

They will prep the surface first before painting. That means they will remove all wax and sand the area to be painted.

Where to get supplies?
Hi there,
Are there any retail places I'd have some luck in finding any of these products you mention? Specifically, I've been trying to find a PC7336 and have had no luck whatsoever. I did find one 7424 that was unboxed, but in fairly good condition. I'm in the Dallas, TX area... Thanks for any info/advice you can provide, -Joe |

I visited 'Lowes' and although they did not carry the P.C. #7424 in store, they were able to order it for me. Hope thats of some help. Ed |

Hi Ed! Thanks so much for helping us all out. A friend of mine bought me a whole bucket full of car detailing products from Wolfgang and Pinnacle's when he heard I ordered a new camaro, are these okay to use? I know he spent some money on these.

What are some good things to carry around in the car for any sudden maintenance that might be needed?

A good gun to shoot whoever is forcing you to do maintenance.

![]() OK, the vinyl stripes; there has been numerous discussion on polishing v. not polishing. I've seen, in person, black stripes polished with Zaino, and they looked GREAT. I suggest you first decide if you want to try and polish the stripes. If you choose to do it, look at a good "over the counter" product, (ie; Mothers or Meguires) and begin on a spot inconspicuous first, to make sure you're satisfied with the result. Also, apply and remove the polish "front to back", to avoid going over the edges. You want to follow the edge as closely as possible without going over them. Polishing your stripes won't prevent them from peeling off. But I seriously doubt you will ever have to worry about that. ![]() Claying; is a process, done prior to applying a polish, of removing any surface contaminants which are embedded in the paint. I would not clay stripes (unless they're painted). I hope that answered your questions? Ed |
