Camaro Shudder Issue
I have a 2017 SS2 and recently experienced the shudder issue. I am scheduled to have the flush done in about two weeks. Is it recommended that I not drive the car until then? I am concerned that there may be some damage to the TC if I do.

Sure, why not?

I had the issue with my 2016 SS and my dealer was able to get me in immediately for the new fluid swap, and I never had the problem again.

Camaro Shudder Problem
Thanks.
I have also read that some Camaros require that the TC be replaced. Do you have any idea how this is determined? |

2017 Camaro with Transmission Shudder
I found out what the problem was by reading here (Thanks guys!)
I stopped driving my Camaro to preserve the TC. My dealership finally got me in, and they are quoting me $769 for a flush and the new fluid, saying that the new fluid is very expensive and that labor costs have gone up. This is a LOT more than I was expecting. What do you guys think? |

I thought it was too much as the process only takes 1.5 hours, but having checked the price of the fluid, I can see it unfortunately. The TSB calls for 20 quarts, and that alone is in the $300-325 range, then you need a filter, plus labor. Could be cheaper, but not by much...

It really seems like this should be a recall item. |

So my friends 2017 SS has this issue. He is currently at 60,xxx miles. Yes out of warranty. His shudder was present when he purchased the car under warranty. They performed the flush which did not solve it. It has now been diagnosed needing the torque converter replaced. This is quoted at $2700. I feel this being not solved under warranty should still be honored then. Any thoughts on this? I came here to this post instead of a new one for the moment since this post is the specific issue.

Also, if in the end it turns out he can't get it done under warranty, there is no need to go to the dealership for this work, by the way. A replacement TC (part number 24290214) costs only $380 and you even get the core charge ($100) back, so a $2700 quote must have some astronomical labor charge built in, I don't think this job would really take 20+ hours.

That's where we are at now. They have in a round and about way agreed that it is the known issue that caused the damage to the torque converter. He is waiting for GM corporate to respond to his message. We can do the install ourselves but felt that since we just had to replace his starter that maybe we should see if they will cover some of this. He has the documentation where it states that they performed the flush for the TSB. I know it'll be a hard sell but we are trying to see what we can accomplish through GM.

I’m thinking about selling the Camaro…
The shuddering has come back after a triple flush and a TC replacement. The car has only 49k miles on it. Has anyone else experienced this? |

Yeah, it is the latest fluid. This sucks big time and I don't know of a free/cheap solution at this point.
