What else?

I'm sorry, but I can't stand Mustangs.
The 2011 Mustang will have 412hp. Where have you been? Ahhhh you have seen the light.

A. The car has just came out and these mods were still fairly new.
B. As I remember there was NO TUNE. It was "stick a CIA on it, and he goes 12.6"
C. Hell a 2010 GT went 12.8 but the minute it was mention that he ran without the spare tire and the front sway bar, and a x pipe ZOMG !! He has super mods !

The point is that the driver is the biggest mod. I know the Camaro is more than capable running these times. I just do, and still question that particular time. Camaro's running these great imes now is not far fetched. But as others have said, 12's are not the AVERAGE times.
There definitely was a tune. I'm reading the thread right now.

No one said that guy had super mods; you just failed to disclose all of his mods to make it sound better than it was. I still think it was impressive but you failed to mention the other things he did.

I don't get how you can question that time knowing that you can easily PM LMR and they'll tell you what the car had considering they were using it as a test mule. Also, like I said, multiple other Camaro's have run mid 12's with very light mods. I don't get why you would question that time when similar times have come up with similar mods.

Obviously 12's are not average times as it takes a skilled driver to get the most out of a car. Ask Garagelogic. He was saying that when he took his GT500 to the track there were two guys there with GT500's who couldn't break 13's. Does that mean anything about the car? Nope.

If it has a trunk, it will have the release, federal law says so.

I think the point he is trying to argue is that taking that 12.6 run as a "all camaros run that" is pretty ridiculous... when 8 out of 10 camaro anywhere are hitting 13.0-13.2 bone stock...

of course we will always have our cherry pickers just like people who read about someone who ran 13.5 in a gt500 and for now on they say pfftt gt500's run 13.5's lol... i think that is one of the major problems on these here internets... taking a cars worst time and believing in your head that is what it runs...

I didn't see anyone saying all Camaro's run 12.6's, just that is the current best time for a "stock" SS. I put stock in quotes because of the minimal modifications (K&N air and oil filter).

Yep, I definitely find that to be annoying as well. It is irritating to read people here saying the GT500 is only capable of 12.8 because of that one MotorTrend article. However, it happens on both sides of the fences so let's not pretend otherwise.

As fbodfather said himself..."we are far from finished". Yes, Ford is trying to improve the Mustang (especially their anemic 6 cylinder) to catch up to Chevy. We have no intention of letting them do so...

Mustang is a smaller car, I think it will still be a little lighter than the SS.

Bottom line, our Camaros look waaaaaay badder and can back it up!

There will probably be powertrain updates with the MCE.

Wouldn't the +20 torque, and lighter body even it out with the Camaro SS? I mean, most stock SS are putting out what, 370rwhp and torque about the same? 390 torque even with reduced hp could handily beat the SS off the line, but probably not the quarter mile. Still speculation, but still, you have to think Ford wouldn't release this car unless it was equal or better than it's competition. Otherwise, what would be the selling point? Any gearheads want to sound off on this.....junkie?

It was not said it was suoermods, but people aacted like running without a spare or a front sway was like a MAJOR modification to the car. Hell I never run with my spare...why the hell would you ?? Front sway ? Yeah I do not do that, but basically there was a weight removal, and a xpipe. Oh LCA's. basic basic stuff. Hell 2 of the things did not even cost money, and it was a uproar here.

As to that run well If the guy did it, fine. It just seemed suspect at that time, and I was not the only one to cast doubt btw. But it is what it is. Do I think a Camaro could do it now with the same mods ? Oh yeah I do. Why ? Because tuners have "Learned" the car, and the testing per say is done. So now its just up to the driver.

The Camaro is very capable. I see great drivers down here easily breaking the 13 sec with there's and min mods. The same I see Stangs breaking 13's with just a few more mods. And no, they are all not F/I. Sure, I'm F/I and can run a 12.2/6 on a good night, but heh I was lazy :P I took the easy way to mods
