I also have to add something to what I said earlier. While dealers should know more about the Camaro than we do, they also have to know about the Cobalt, Silverado, Equinox, Traverse, Trailblazer, Malibu, Aveo, Corvette, Impala, Tahoe, Avalanche, Colorado, and Suburban. I might have missed a couple. They aslo need to know what is available on various trim packages and options for each, plus year to year updates. Most of us don't know anything about the Aveo, Colorado, or Impala other than a few basics. Now, I'm not saying that every dealer knows everything about all Chevy's, but just because they don't know everything doesn't mean they don't know anything. They just don't know much about a car that won't be on their lot for 3 months, while we have been watching and waiting for every detail on the Camaro for the last 3 years.

I have said things similar to that ^ several times now. We are Camaro fanatics and are mostly just concerned with one car. On top of that, the salespeople need to sell cars NOW to put food on the table and keep the lights on. Selling us a Camaro that they won't get paid for for 3-9 months doesn't do much for them. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but put yourself in their shoes before you start blasting them.

Yes you are right DGthe3, and I do understand they have many models to know about. This was not my point. My point was that I think whether it is a Cobolt, Silverado, Camaro, or what ever; when GM has a dealer meeting someone from that store should attend it so that they can disseminate the correct information through the dealership. It was what I viewed as a caviler attitude about missing the meeting that I didn't care for.

This being said, my wife, and many friends, will continue to tell you I am still a nut for this car. I will wait for it even if it ends up being another month. And I am OK with GM building V6's for the dealerships. Having a history in sales I realize you need to keep the "sales funnel" full in order to keep the plant open. I would rather have them with V6s than V8s, because if they were to sell one of the cars pushed down by GM before I received my car I would really be upset if it was a V8. Let them have the V6.

Long Live Camaro!

However, a Sept or Oct delivery date is unacceptable, as stated by others in the snowy north, I will get the car just in time to store it for the winter....WTF!
I'm not jumping the gun to cancel my order but if June comes and goes and I don't have it, then most likely I will cancel and continue to save my money towards a 2011 or perhaps a Z06. This car is a "like to have" not a "need to have".

again someone with a good point, my roads are crap from october to march.
i haven't stayed in canada that much but i suspect winter there is even worse.
so ordering in october and getting the car a year later ... that's a bit much , specialy to be asked to wait another half a year for a decent run.

i've also payed 3500 $ reservation since I'm in europe, which also isn't very swell

Absolutely. They should at the very least watch/read all the information that is given to them by GM.

10-4 Thanks, but there are lots of us who have been working on this car for over a year and are truly doing an outstanding job to make sure you have the best 5thGen ever. We will not disappoint you.

Since your business is with the dealer, not GM, if the dealer goes under - you loose. If you search hard enough, especially dealers who aren't in large cites, you can order without a big deposit - I did. Find a dealer who hasn't filled their allocation, for anyone who still wants to order.

If they file for bankruptcy, then yes, you loose your deposit.

I ordered first @ my dealer a 2SS, they had an initial allocation of three cars, looked like 2, SS and a V6. If I have to wait till October for my car, I'll cancel for sure. New England winters are harsh, and I'm not going to take delivery of a brand new sports car at the onset of winter.

I'll try that one on my boss
You know how many things I need to know about to do my job? The one my family depends on to provide housing, food, etc.?
I work in skilled trades for a competitor automobile manufacturing plant. If I didn't have a better EXCUSE than that, I would be long gone.
If my well being depended on me to know my job as a salesperson, you better damn well believe I'd would know it and not be arrogant as being too aloof to not knowing. A vehicle purchase is most likely the second most expensive purchase made. In this economy, I'd be all over it.
Here is a tip, when they are waiting and waiting for foot traffic, have them study their product.
Ignorance is not bliss.

All this complaining over 30 days? Thirty days! As I said in an earlier post, I've waited over 800 some days for this beautiful car to come out. I can do an extra 30 standing on my head. And it really surprises me that anyone out there would actually consider canceling their order over 30 days! Please!

To the Camaro workers,
I used to work the line for Toyota. I know what it is like to have your hands hurt, the sweat running down your face. I have nothing but respect for anyone that works that hard.

I am a bit confused by all this. I don't think they're saying they'll cancel over 30 days, I think its because of having to wait until October?
Am I reading that right, people who've preordered won't get theirs until October? If that's true, I think most people expected to get their car a month after production, latest being June. That's what I was expecting. I haven't even ordered yet! But I want a 2LT in Silver...anyone think I might be lucky and get mine sooner than October?

we were always told that allocated orders would shipped by end of third quarter (sept). It's now October. One month.
