While on the other hand, my first trip down the track with my A6 Camaro was a 1.93 on the stock tires.

With your launching skill, you'd have no trouble at all pulling 1.8x in a stock Camaro. The Camaro's suspension/drive line is much more drag race friendly.
I am an A4... I stage, brake torque up against the converter and mash the gas... Not much skill. lol

lets see, On street tires i have to roll out of the clutch as a roll into the gas equally so the maggie doesnt break the Tires loose! (Real Pain in the ASS) But i MT ET Drags i just hold the car at 4200rpm and let the big dog eat!! (Last time i tried the car with the MT Slicks on, that big dog ate my LS7 clutch, but damn did the intial launch feel strong)

You're so modest. Most guys don't come close to pulling 1.91 sec 60' in a bone stock A4 GTO. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

I couldn't do it in my stock A4 GTO. All I got was wheel spin in my A4 when I tried to brake torque and mash the gas (stock tires).

After that vid, we all finally got the point and put our Camaro's on craigslist.

no thats not the point i was making , i like the new camaro.
but everyone says how good it looks but no one talks about how much weight they added .

my point was that the gto is not the red headed stepchild some people belive it to be .

what does a top of the line ss cost ?

with a lot of old school hot roding ,im in the 11s
no giggle gas , no blower, no turbos , no cam , no heads.
you dont need to blow a load of cash to go fast.

I was making a joke, but I think we all realized nobody is going to change anyone else's opinion. We all drive what we drive for a reason. GTO's never appealed to me and I never had interest in them . I applaud your accomplishments as well. I am going for an 11 second slip in the near future, probably not this year. I am hoping though to cut my ET significantly with no adders and an outwardly stock appearing car.

If we are talking manuals, If the GTO driver can drive (manual GTO's are hard to drive and launch right)..it will be close. If we are talking Automatic, the Camaro wins hands down. The A6 in the Camaro manages everything so much better than the 4L65 could ever imagine.

You guys have to remember the Camaro is essentially an next generation GTO, so it should be better since it is a generation newer. Back in 2004-2006ish, GM was designing Zeta, and it was supposed to be made both in the US and Austrailia. Both Pontiac and Chevy were each gonna get their own sedan and coupe. For Pontiac, the sedan was gonna be the G8 (different than the one we got), and coupe was gonna be the GTO. For Chevy, the sedan was gonna be a new Impala or Caprice, and the coupe was gonna be a Camaro, or Chevelle. Alot of people inside GM thought the Zeta coupe was too large to be a Camaro, so that's where the Chevelle was being considered

GM has planned to make the Pontiac's more high end and BMW like where Chevy Zeta's would be everyman's cars like Charger and Challenger are now. Oshawa was supposed to crank out several Zeta models exclusivly...including maybe Buicks like Velite concept. Either way..they made the decision to roll out the Camaro concept and it was huger than anyone ever imagined. Because of this, GM had to make the Camaro..and because of Zeta it ended up bigger than most wanted. Then the hammer fell, GM started sliding towards bankruptcy, and had to cancel most of the Zeta program to pay for the GMT 900 trucks. Camaro was too far along, and known to cancel, so it was kept alive on a shoe string budget. Pontiac got a rebadged imported Commodore as the G8, and Zeta GTO and Impala were axed. It is a shame because the designs they had for the new GTO and american G8 supposedly we low slung and very aggressive. The Zeta Impala was supposed to have a lot of heritage cues also and be kind of like a sedan Camaro.
