Forgeline knows the Camaro and various brake and wheel combinations inside and out. Give them a call.
I really need to pick up this point here. I'm looking into the CTS-V updgrade, but I'm not certain if the brakes will clear my wheels (Vossen CV1 22'').

So my question would be:
how much would these brakes come closer to the (e.g.) stock SS wheels? Currently it's not really a "Razor Distance" between the spokes and the OEM calipers, but tight anyway. Is there a way to measure the reduced distance of the calipers to the wheels?

I'm willing to take the risk here and try it anyways, but things are getting complicated when trying to return parts from across the pond (Germany), so any help would be appreciated

Your rim offset will tell you how much closer you are.

To drive a 5th Gen fast you want stability and predictability in your handling. That starts at the foundational level with bushes. We want the arms to articulate freely, but within a tighter operational range. The amount of lateral movement in the 5th Gen lower rear arm with OE bushes and even with Pedders bushes is to great when you are looking for 1/10th or a 100th in a corner. We'll be testing this banded thrust bearing system this weekend. It is going to shift the load and our testing is designed to find out where ans what if anything we break on the Raymond's Performance Camaro and the L/28. Our best guess is that the arm will fatigue and we'll need to replace the lower control arms frequently. If that is all that we find, swapping out lower controls arms will cost less than the fluid changes between events. The track is not forgiving, it will tell us we are brilliant or idiots this weekend.

While we are on the subject of lower control arms, here is a how to on removal of the OEM lower inner control arm bush.

The OEM rear trailing arm bush is great for driving in the 8/10ths range. Pushed to 10/10ths or 11/10ths it allows too much movement creating instability. Installing a steel jacketed bush into the knuckle position requires it be removed from the car. Once off the car, the installation is straight forward. The increase in stability is enormous. You can see why in these pictures and the video.

Brought to you by Pedders. You know, the company without real engineers or testing program that just sells stuff

Not to necro this thread, BUT I'm thinking about doing this. Since there hasn't been any posts for the better half of 6 months has anyone had any issues?

I'm thinking about jumping on this JDP CTS-V brake package: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171447

Just curious what other C5 members have experienced.

We ran the CTS-V brakes on Bruce Raymond's Camaro for the OPTIMA events this past season. They were excellent. This should come as no surprise to anyone as we thoroughly tested this on the Pedders USA Camaro and the production ZL1 runs the same brakes.

Thanks for the reply. I was just curious since this thread was created WELL before the ZL1. Didn't know if things had changed since the ZL1 came out.

We keep them instock,If you need a set for your camaro. They work very well.We also have custom brake pad compounds for road racing to work with the CTSV/ZL1 calipers.

Actually, on a technical note the calipers are installed "upside down" of sorts on the ZL1. If you look at a ZL1 caliper, the bleeders and lines swapped to the other end.

Fair point. Since you you can flip the bleeders and bridge pipe I didn't mention it.

Bruce can you post pictures of your slotted motors and 5th Gen SS black matching finish?
