Guys that build turbo'd Honda's has some of the cheapest parts available for any car and I knew guys building 'ebay' and 'craigslist' turbo kits for $1500-$2000. The point I'm trying to make is them buying used and cheap parts still ran them that much, so there's no way we can be in that range for our cars. Also, car-specific turbo kits are more money than piecing your own because their kits have piping with bends for your specific vehicle; something those generic kits wont have. If you have the ability to mandrel bend some aluminum pipe, then go ahead an just piece yours together, but otherwise you're paying someone else to make piping fitting to your car... Also, regarding intercoolers, you for sure want one. They are technically optional, but its safer for your motor, you get more hp, your motor wont get heat-soaked as bad, etc etc.

sts equivalent system, tuned by trifecta
Ball Bearing Journal Bearing Ebay intercooler 500 210 80 wastegate 300 250 60 bov 300 250 50 tubing 300 300 180 turbo 1350 900 280 oil pump 400 400 400 tuning 500 500 500 oil lines 100 100 100 fittings 100 100 100 total 3850 3010 1750 Tubing would include j bends like the sts unversal kit so no mandrel bending is needed. Turbo prices are for garrett from www.atpturbo.com and ball bearing used more expensive bov and fmic for the heck of it. Last edited by CAMAR0; 08-17-2010 at 10:29 PM. |

Please...Please...Please....DO NOT put this on your engine. Cheaply made Chinese turbos spinning at 50,000 + rpms will eventually lead to a catastrophic event - 9 out of 10 times, those impeller fragments are circulated through the oil system and end up destroying your motor. Trust me, it ain't worth it. If you're going to build your own TT kit, you're looking at about $2,500-$3,000 for just the parts. If you're not mechanically inclined or don't have access to the proper tools, then buy the STS kit and be done with it. Guys who try to reinvent the wheel are usually the ones who end up paying for it in the end. |

Meth Injection/Boost Controller Installed
Just an update that I got the Meth Pump and Boost Controller installed. Trying to schedule a dyno time to test the boost controller and see if we can set it to 8 psi on high. Will have data logs off the dyno runs to have Trifecta work out the tunes. Here's some pictures from the install.

On that bottom pick with the boost controller, is that by or near the wastegate? Speaking on which, where exactly is the wastegate? It is an external wastegate correct? That photo shows the only thing I dont like about going turbo...the vacuum lines! Oh well, a necessary evil.

Yes, that is near the waste gate which is on the driver side of the car in the rear. Our system has the turbo off the passenger side exhaust pipe and the waste gate off the driver side exhaust pipe.
With no boost controller, all you have is a single line to the waste gate. |
