Nice get together tonight! Seems like a long time since we all met up.

So the plan is a cruise up Mt Lemmon next Saturday (1 Oct). Who's in? Northwest folks can meet up at La Encontada or Jasper's (for breakfast). We can then meet up with East-side folks at Udall Park like last time. We can firm up meeting times later in the week. Just want to stir up the interest early in the week. Let's all enjoy a drive up the mountain and some cooler temps for the afternoon.

Hoping you guys can help with a maintenance question... my car is nearing 30K miles and Watson says I need a 30k service package which is approx $600. However, after reading the owners manual, it basically says just have some inspections(exhaust, etc.) done and I'm thinking probably the passenger cabin air filter replaced. That's no where NEAR what the service guy told me. What are you guys doing? I do have the extended warranty and don't want to void it but just seems what they are recommending is excessive.

I've worked in a Chevy Dealer Service Dept., Big O Tires as a tech and Firestone as an asst. manager. I think Watson just likes to make big bucks. I've never heard of such cost for an inspection. Average price of this runs $450 for most dealers, but here is a list.

30,000-mile Service
Due at: 30,000 ; 90,000 Miles
• Lubricate and Inspect Suspension, Drive Line and Steering
• Change Engine Oil and Replace Oil Filter
• Inspect Air Filter and Fluid Levels, Top-off as Required
• Inspect Engine Drive Belts and Hoses
• Inspection of Brake System, Clean and Adjust as Required
• Full Inspection of Fuel System
• Replace Fuel Filter, Air Filter and/or PCV if needed
• Service and Clean Fuel Injection and Induction System
• Clean Throttle Body
• GM Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection

Its basically a bunch of inspection stuff. If you really want your car thoroughly inspected you can go to an independent shop like Brake Max or Firestone and they do an inspection for usually $20. Also, not taking it in will not void your factory or extended warranty.

I also have an 07 Avalanche and my tranny blew out at 61K. My truck had only seen a dealership once before and that was for a cruise control switch. The tranny was completely paid for by GM. No one asked if I had the 30K or 60K "check-up". Hope that helps!

Having no record of scheduled maintenance through GM will not void your warranty. However, if GM determines a part failure is due to lack of maintenance, there is a possibility they will not honor your warranty. They can test your oil, fluids, etc. to determine this. I've always performed my own maintenance on my vehicles because I like to be familiar with them. I'd recommend documenting all maintenance performed in a log book just for future reference.

Sounds like fun!
As for the breakfast, it all depends on how early Glen and I get done claying and waxing our cars.
How about we meet at Udall Park around 11:00?

Thanks so much yzrider and LimaCharlie for your help! Makes me feel a lot better and I should stress I always do the scheduled maintenance (oil changes faithfully, etc.) but just wondered what I REALLY needed to have done. Think I will go elsewhere and have it done (printed out your list yzrider) but will keep records on all. Thanks again!

Wish we could do the Mt. Lemmon run - have soccer games with our daughter every single Saturday from now through eternity.....

Mt Lemmon Cruise 1 Oct

Soliciting inputs on who's attending and meeting times for a drive up the mountain on Saturday. Looking at gathering at Udall Park at 11:00. Maybe eating up in Summerhaven, or gathering for dinner once we're back down in the afternoon. Welcome any suggestions.

Forecast calls for isolated thunderstorms (30%) on Saturday, but it said the same thing last time we were up there and it was a beautiful day...
