Never been on a road track, how much does it usually run ?
Guess we're lucky to have 3 tracks... One is 1/8th mile and the ricers and pickup trucks go there which is nice.

There is two here in jersey, they other one is just further for me to get to. Much better track, little more to get in but a lot less ricers.

I think the closest one to me is in PA it's like a 4 hour ride. I was there once but that was to drive a stock car. Expensive as hell but a blast. They have a road course right next to it.

Royal Purple in Baytown sort of busy but brings the big cars... then Hennessey's track is 40 miles out of town and you can get in a ton of runs. The 1/8 mile track is a total zoo.

Never been on a road track, how much does it usually run ?
Here is but one example...

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296683

This is with C5 and it runs $160 for the day at Gingerman in MI. These usually get you two hours of track time. When I go to Autobahn CC in Joliet, IL. it will depend on whether I do the South course or Full course on what I pay. It can range from $180-$300 but I will still get two hours of time on the course.

But....... this is just to get on the track. This does not include the prep cost in order to safely run on the course. You need to have Dot4 brake fluid, race ready brake pads and good tires. This is just the minimum. Slotted rotors, upgraded sway bars, coilovers, bushings, lightweight wheels, upgraded tires and the list goes on if you want to be fast and have more fun.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Zoo is a good description of Englishtown, ironically it holds tons of NHRA events and they enforce every last rule and regulation. But then let cars on the track that are clearly ticking time bombs. Test n tune is referred to as Kamakazee night.

Good info thanks. I am running around on stock brakes and very little suspension upgrades. I figured stock suspension would be exposed rather quickly.

The spectators at this zoo cheer when cars blow up or break. Like they are rooting for a big wreck in NASCAR. Like I said this is ricer territory... not the norm at other tracks.

Never liked the atmosphere there and always felt like I needed to lock and keep an eye on my car, but you're right some super fast cars will show up because it's close and convenient.
