yeah, but I love animals but my child would come first. I don't want the cat scratching my child.

We always declawed our kittens because we had children in the house.

My cat would be outdoors. It would be male. It would be fed twice a week. It would still be a predator. Claws are needed.

100% indoor cat, so I see no problem with it.

My parents cats are indoor/outdoor cats, but they are too scared to leave the porch and dart inside the house when they get scared

Although Lulu, likes to chase butterflies and sometimes we lose her for an hour or two.

The claw is essentially the last part of your finger. It's not just a process of cutting out the part that protrudes from the paw, it's literally amputating that entire joint. The cats eventually learn to do without but it sucks for them for a while after the operation.

A lot of vets are reluctant to perform the procedure these days.

I think my cats were more upset about losing their balls than their claws.

Spaying/neutering is a necessity for population control.

Declawing should be more of a last resort. AKA the cat won't stop scratching humans despite attempts to redirect the energy elsewhere, or the owner has an immune disease.

And it's not really an ethics or morality issue for me. It's more a matter of do you really need to perform the procedure if you really don't have to.
