Thanks - it started with wanting to see the caps under the cover. I see you've got the cap covers as well. It holds fine without the missing area. Fun to experiment. A new cover is only $50 so figured I'd try different looks.

ok i finally finished my cover and fuse box cover....i was at a car show at my dealership over the weekend and a company called hot rod hotline was there taking pictures for there online magazine. well they liked my under the hood and took some pictures to post on their website...thought it was pretty cool so ill post the pictures they took lol

everything is more orange in person...the sun just changes the color a bit..thats why it looks almost yellow...

Thanks.

I used ~1/8" polystyrene for the "bars". Painted the raised bits on the outer-middle to match. Each bar is held on with two #8 sheet metal screws. Painted a bigger, rectangular piece of styrene for the middle to cover the emblem and flutes. I need to shoot the rest of black bits of the original cover to match the middle.

I could do a How-To if there is interest, but that was basically it.

Polystyrene??? I hope you used a heat resistant type, because I think most polystyrene plastic will warp (but not melt) in the hot environment of an engine compartment....

What do you guys use to cut the plastic if trimming is necessary?

This was just a prototype, but, it's all fairly tight, so warpage does not seem to be a concern. Ideally, I'll find something else to fill the emblem circle and flutes and get the bars cut from thin stainless.
