Anyone know what the tailshaft bearing part # is for the CTS-V... Apparently it will fit on our trans, and since mine is being updated with all the new part numbers I found on this thread, I thought I would have them do this as well !! T.I.A.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148040

I'll let everyone know the results of the rebuild

grinding 6 sp

My new 2011 ss grinds as well when I shift aggressively, I noticed if I pull straight back with the hurst shifter it grinds from first to second, the rest always shift ok. So i tried holding the shifter hard to the left once I pull out of 1st and it slips into second with no grinding, its still not a smooth shift like the rest but at least it doesnt grind, I wonder if that shift solenoid is creating an alignment issue, not sure what it is but I find this works.

ZL1 Improvements

I bet all the trans and axle problems will be corrected
on the ZL1 .
I heard they were going to use a cast iron differential case and
stronger cv joints

Just got my car back last night. They rebuilt my tranny with all the part number I accumulated on this thread.... Also, the pressure plate assembly, and slave cylinder were replaced with the new revised versions.... So far I'm happy to report that it's running great, no more issues...

Going on a road trip to Oshawa for the BBOMG, so I should have a real idea if it's perfect or not... I'll report back after the weekend !

Do you have a comprehensive parts list of what was replaced?

It would be fantastic if you could put up a PDF file of the work order sans the personal information, so we could capture the repair data. Someone with a transmission that has optimal results is a good thing! I rather suspect that the Chevrolet Customer Service would love to hear your satisfaction and WHAT WORKED!

I don't have a scanner here @ home, so I'll post the part numbers I compiled for now ( by the way, I live in Quebec, so the work order is in French). These are all compiled from the "driveline" section... You can go to GMpartsdirect-dot-com to see what they are. The work order has a few more pieces ( things needing change after the tranny was broken down ).

19206241

The tech working on my tranny adjusted the lateral play on the internals from 0.001" to 0.006".... He told me that GM specs the play to be between 0.002" - 0.0025", but he's rebuilt MANY trannies for Vettes, and the GM spec is still too loose, so 0.006" it is.... There's a lot less " slack " in the tranny

I'll be leaving for the Oshawa trip shortly, so I should have a REALLY good idea of how it worked out ( so far, so good ).

Thanks for the follow up! We look forward to hearing how she does on the road trip. Have a safe, fun drive!

Forgot to update on my trans issue:
They went ahead and swapped the trans and clutch too.
it is 100% better now! Shifts like a different type of trans, no grinding or hard to shift.
they wouldnt give me a reason for the old one going out so soon, just said be happy we replaced it!!!

and i am happier now...

Hey guys join the Facebook page below, I created it to hopefully increase the awareness of the 2GG (2nd Gear Grinding) issue that has accrued. GM STILL denies that this is a case by case issue and not a mass issue.... BULL$#!%. Please join the page and show your support. Its for past, present, V6 or V8 2GG's THANKS IN ADVANCE
