I concur.

you all may want to do some research on the SRT8, the transmissions were heavily retuned and the same transmissions that have received praise in various AMG products and were in the SLR MClaren....... The power is much higher and the power band is much flatter. the MPH they pull in the 1/4 mile is considerably higher than the SS, and equal to or better than the 5.0. The 300 is only around 100 pounds heavier than a challenger and they have run multiple 12.2s in multiple cars, give it a .2 second advantage over the 300 because of the weight and you still have a car capable of 12.4s, quicker than ANY stock SS and as quick as the quickest 5.0. I can see maybe saying the 5.0=SRT8, but saying the SS is quicker than the SRT8 has me ROFLMAO!!!! Take the blinders off, in the race the SS is last place with equal drivers.

As far as on the track, who will really be taking a 4 door luxury car to track days, so who cares and what i understand the question was about straightline anyways......

I dont know who to believe, these are usually reliable guys in the VS. section lol

I've seen that video, white 1SS vs auto 5.0? Beating it by 1 car is not running it over "pretty hard". At the end of that vid when the 5.0 jumps on the 2nd honk, the SS couldn't reel him in up to 115mph...once again proving...5th gen vs. 5.0 = drivers race. New 300 SRT8 traps higher than both of those cars, and equally driven I think the SRT8 would beat both of them. Challengers are not much lighter and those have dipped into bottom 12 stock, down to the tire.

no. it ran over it pretty hard. especially considering how the 5.0 supposedly mops the floor with the ss.

the 5.0 gets the jump every time, and the ls3 quickly reels it in.

This video?

Ok. You concluded this by seeing the video on a GoPro mounted facing forward? Looked to me like the GT just fell back a car and stayed there. In the last part of the video, the GT got the jump, and the mighty LS3 couldn't reel it back in, although it did make up some ground. I guess in your world 1 car length is "ran over it pretty hard"....to most of us, not so much.

why are you so mad? when the race was fair, the ss ran over the gt HARD. when the gt jumped by over a second the ss still made up ground. hardly anything to get so angry about.

I'm not mad, we just have different opinions of what "run over hard" is. 1 car length, in my world, not a huge win. And when the GT jumped the honk the SS made up about a car. Results are not surpirising.

you're assuming 1 car. and the gt took the hit everytime, but the ss quickly reeled it in. hard.

i'm shocked too, but it is what it is.

They hit it at the same time, except for at the end where the GT jumped on the 2nd honk. I'm not surprised a stock LS3 pulled a stock auto GT, and I don't think anyone should be. Especially not from a roll. It's hard to have a roll race with an auto vs. manual, since the auto has to compensate for the kick down. That's what it looks like the GT is doing.
