I can read by some of these post some actually know what they are talking about but being reserved in their responses...lol..To the OP shoot myself, TJ or any of the few in this thread who has/had experience in these matters so that you can get a better understanding.

But I will share some general knowledge just to let you know the posts about security classifications. Unclassified is not a classification...and top secret is not the "epitome" of clearances. There are more above that. These are the three general areas.

CONFIDENTIAL: Applied to information or material the unauthorized disclosure of which could be reasonably expected to cause damage to the national security.

SECRET: Applied to information or material the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause serious damage to the national security.

TOP SECRET: Applied to information or material the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause exceptionally grave damage to the national security.

In addition to the above, some classified information is so sensitive that even the extra protection measures applied to Top Secret information are not sufficient. This information is known as "Sensitive Compartmented Information" (SCI) or Special Access Programs (SAP), and one needs special "SCI Access" or SAP approval to be given access to this information.

"For Official Use Only" is not a security classification. It is used to protect information covered under the Privacy Act, and other sensitive data.
I only did some basic research, so I was just posting what I learned. Obviously, you have better access to this sort of documentation than I do. I only studied policy and governance, none of which is considered secret. Only national security information is considered secret and worthy of protection. I appreciate you correcting the misinformation.

I'm sure I don't need to post this but I will.

Please do not post what level of information you have or have had access to.

That alone could be cause for removal of your clearance.

I work with ICE, if you can get into the USMS that would be tight, I work with some of them on a task force, and pretty much the first few years you do court security and prisoner escorts, after that you can get on tasks forces and other fun stuff.....BP is ROUGH, but its pretty much all the fun aspects of being a LEO wrapped up into one job, except the excitment of chases and all the stuff is every day, not once a year, plus they have BORSTAR and BORTAC with is there SWAT units, I have worked with a few of them on the South West Boarder in the Blackhawks being on the ICE SRT unit. Basically if you dont get into anything else and do BP for a few years and throw that on your resume, you will get picked up in a heart beat, plus its starts u in the pension and good experience.

Here's a great thing that a professor once told me when I was a freshman. It doesn't matter what you want to do in life, you'll figure that out eventually and get a master's degree in that major. However you're new to this whole college thing and college isn't a like high school. Therefore, when you go to college it doesn't matter what major you chose in the aspect of reflecting a future career, what matters is to take a major that will interest you and you will be interested in taking the courses and learning what you will need to. If you will be interested in the major, you will be interested in the courses, if you will be interested in the courses, then you will be interested in doing the work, if you will be interested in doing the work, then you will receive good grades. Best advice that I have ever gotten from a professor.
