I never understood the reasoning behind the checkered pattern. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Typically they will build as many as 200 cars(prolly not in this case) and turn them over to executives and other employees to drive for a couple of months before they start production on customer cars. The reason for this is to find out problems that were missed on the CTF cars and prototypes.
The cars that they are going to build for executives and others WILL be sold later in the year as certified cars. Ex. the all new 2003 MY Cadillac CTS went on sale January 2, 2002. I personally saw "Executive" cars that were built in October 2001 for sale in 2002. |

The checkered patterning is what ALL automotive companies use on new cars that they are testing to be put into production its to cover up what new car models will look like before they show up in dealerships. It's so the competition doesnt see much and ESPECIALLY so that spy photographers don't get much info on their new vehicles coming out.

Of course I want a ZL1 but if another camaro follows me home I'll be sleeping in it. Hmm??? Actually, that might be a good plan. LOL

I seriously doubt that the dealerships will let this car out for $47K. Somewhere between $55K - $60 maybe...

i think they should have pushed this car to the limit on the wet track just to see how it handles in the ran and i dont mean push it hard enough to wreck i mean just take a couple of the slower turns on the track as fast as they could in the ran im really curious if it handles better in ran than the ss does everyone knows it handles better on a dry track but did the better suspinion help any in the ran? bc my ss is not much on a wet road even in normal wet driving conditions.

As awesome and tempting as this car is (and it is) I think one can make a strong case for going with a SS and modifying it over this car. Though to do so you need to have some cash laying around and be ok with voiding the warranty.
Though I have been thinking about getting this or getting a 1SS or even 2SS and modifying it to make it lighter and more powerful. From what I have read this car is 4,200 pounds with 580BHP gives it a power to weight ratio of 7.2 pounds per horsepower. A really good power to weight ratio though if you had a 3,600 pound car you will only need 500BHP which you can pull off from the LS3 engine NA. Katech I think has a package for $5,000 which is rated at 530BHP and 470ft-lbs of torque. If you can do that to a SS LS3 car and figure out how to drop 250 pounds from the car then I think you would have a real winner. Or you can just buy a ZL1 and call it a day IDK. |
