The ZL1 is the better handler with much more direct inputs and I really miss the exhaust note of the ZL1 @ WOT. But the CTS-V has some strong points as well.

The suede in the seats keep me totally in one spot but I am 5'06 and 155#. I would love to have the suede ZL1 Recaro seats available this year but have not found them for less than $5,000.00 for the pair. The car is such a great performer and she just loves showing me what she can really do.

I drove a '13 V coupe this afternoon and was very impressed with how smooth and quiet it was on the highway. It didn't have Recaro seats so I'm gonna go and drive one that does to check out the differences. Thanks for your input!! Next is driving a ZL1 and I'm hoping that the characteristics are such that it makes my choice an easy one.

I have driven both cars (CTS-V and ZL1) and have driven the ZL1 at 5'10" and 225 lbs. and 195 lbs. My input, after some real world driving, some personal research (my diet) and talking and seeing some editors\writers from magazines who have written about seat quality in these cars, is that seat comfort/support/quality really depends on your size. My ZL1 seats at 195 lbs. were very comfortable, very supportive and kept me in place tracking the car where the same car seat and me 30 lbs. heavier had much different results. I personally saw a couple of writers who rated the ZL1 seats marginal who were actually heavy set guys. My personal conclusion was that seats are generally excellent for thinner drivers. Coincides well with laws of physics related to heavier torsos. Hey, don't hate on the messenger, I'm just saying at 195, all seats in my ZL1, CTS-V and SL550R worked much better for me, even in south LA heat!! I'd personally take the Camaro ZL1 in any long trip case.

I'm 6'3 and 260 and I was way more comfortable in my 13 ZL1 for a 8 hour car ride, then I was on the same trip about a month later in my buddy's CTS-V Wagon. I hated the way the seats felt and hold me.

I just drove a '13 ZL1 auto and it was a blast. It wasn't as smooth as the ctsV by a long shot but what it lacked in smoothness in made up for in raw brutishness lol I have a serious problem on my hands

I appreciate everyone's input.

Congrats! And you still have a couple of years worth of free maintenance, bumper-to-bumper warranty and complimentary roadside assistance remaining on the 2012. Post pics!

Exactly! This car is a blast! It does it all so smoothly.. and everyone looks at like it's a space ship from Mars or something.. definitely glad it all worked like it did.

V was an automatic and after spending a couple days at spring mountain I have the road racing bug and wanted the car more suited for that addiction
