WTF? How? THe gearing must be way shorter and lower final drive on cobalt. Is it just bc governer on ss? I know someone with an ls2 gto that hit 165 on before easily.

Also.. why would they put a crappy ratio on camaro ss this year and put better 3.73 on it next year? whats that even mean though? is that its final drive?

Yes, the SS's top speed will be electronically limited. With tuning (to remove the limiter) the SS should top out somewhere over 170mph.

Stock (yet tuned to remove the limiter) LS2 GTO's have been known to hit speeds over 170mph.

I know my stock 05 M6 GTO could hit 155-160mph like it was nothing.

I know the Camaro is electronically limited to 155mph. Maybe GM was worried about mpg, so they went with taller gears. But why the change to 3.73, maybe they found that it would'nt change the mpg all that much, or the trans gears are going to change as well.

same, my friend could be driving like 80 one minute, then(on an empty road) floor it fourth, and seemingly a few seconds later you'd already be going well over 150 easily. Then you could slow back down momentarily like it was nothing and do it all again if you want. That is a fast ****in car. I can't believe the stock camaro will be even faster. I can't wait to get mine and put a hot cam on it!!!

Check the Camaro's curb weight and the Zeta platform it's rolling on.

The Camaro IS a 4 door sedan......
it just had 2 of it's doors removed.

i'm happy that i'm waiting until 2011. we not only get more color options, ABL, and better pricing, but we might get a faster SS.
PLEASE SAY IT'S NOT SO GUYS!? that just wouldnt seem far to the enthusiasts...

eh, speed is all relative. I thought the GTO was a good base to start off with, but not FAST. Don't get me wrong, I don't think my car is fast either, it's not even a car/power range to aim for. I think fast STARTS in the 550-600 rwhp range +, and that's just the BEGINNING.

Then again, that's just my opinion.

You do know that a an LT will go 155mph too right? You'll get there faster than either it or the cobalt, but they'll all go that fast.

Guys don't worry about your top speed, that governor goes away with an ECM/TCM tune.

Also, I'd love to buy a set of 3.45s from anyone upgrading to the 3.70s.
