Exactly !! I bought it to enjoy, not to let it sit and make payments on it.

I have owned many many cars that needed no repairs what so ever well past 40k miles.. And who ever buys their car should drive it as much as they want

40k miles is early for struts IMO. My wife's last Honda went to 150k with only brakes and tires. My 04 GTO needed Struts and radius rod bushings at 80k but otherwise only brakes and tires.

40k seems low to me as well.
Like the OP said, maybe worn a little and a harsher ride, but not blown. Tony

Higher performance, tighter tolerances, easier to wear out to keep in proper performance. Look at other high end cars, they require replacement of items well before that mileage. Even my sway bushings which perform better than my oe bushings wore out requiring replacement. 44K is early but not out of the question. At least you are not doing a 4K timing belt replacement every 30k miles...

That and Honda is known for having crap automatic transmissions. If you didn't have a failure in a car from 1998 and beyond within 100K miles then you are lucky. That and if you drive in "severe" conditions which is over 90 degrees (or Phoenix where I live) there transmission fluid change interval is every 30K. Ouch. https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...999O00132A.pdf |

Regular maintenance is not repair work.
100k for motor mounts is bs.. There are plenty of cars now a days that do not need a darn thing other than oils changes, brakes, and tires for a long long time period.. But on the flip side of that I would not be surprised about the cast of replacing these shocks.. I knew going into this car certain things were going to cost more and that it was not a Honda in regards to cost of ownership. . But hell the smile on my face when I drive it is worth it.

I think the other thing to consider is that people tend to expect different things from their Hondas versus a ZL1. I have owned mostly Chevy's and Hondas (plus a Lexus). My Hondas were great, very low maintenance (repair wise). I bought them to be exactly that, reliable transportation. If the suspension was not performing 100%, the odds are less I am going to notice it on the Honda versus a car I bought for the performance aspect.

drive it hard, expect parts to wear out faster.

The GTO is now at 96k and has had a clutch, brakes, struts and suspension bushings. I've replaced the fluid in the rear once, drained and filled the transmission twice and replace the serpentine belt. Maintenance IMO but I understand if you see it different. I actually thought it was shitty that the GTO struts and bushing were shot at 80k after the Honda held up so well. Bottom-line is I keep my cars 10 years so I take care of them and have been fortune that they have been trouble free Edit: and plugs, wires and air filters. No motor mounts

Typically a strut is classified as bolting to the spindle as an actual pick up point of the suspension. ZL1 rear would therefore be a shock.
