All finance companies are going to have their own issues. Ally has always been good for me & my wife.

They really do suck hard!! I like a fool prepaid my lease up front. Turned in my car early so they owed me like $1500 for un-used lease time. After turning in the car at the dealer it took 7 weeks of waiting and nothing? Called them once a week to see what was up. They sent my check to someone else in another state, and that person, of course cashed my check. Took me three months and involved the local sheriffs dept to even get Ally to acknowledge they screwed up. They basically said as long as someone, they didnt care who cashed that check there job was done.

I went through Lightstream ( a division of suntrust bank) to purchase by 2015 2ss. I was able to get an unsecured auto loan at 1.9% which is unheard of for a used car. Since it is unsecured, the title is in my name with no Lien. The process was painless, entirely online and i had cash in my account the next day. If you have stellar credit, its the way to go.

As far as ally goes, i financed my 11' cruze through them. Had a decent rate and received my payoff notice immediately. I really have nothing bad to say about them however i did not lease so haven't felt that pain....

Never had a problem with them through three cars so far. Just traded in a 2012 Equinox we had with them since October of 13. Got the payoff notification, and a thanks for your business two weeks later. Currently have my 1LE, and 2016 Jeep Wrangler (lease)through them. Sorry for the people having trouble with them.

Sounds like you got on the wrong side of the loan agreement and it snowballed from there, which can happen anywhere.

Ally was 5 starts all the way around for me, from data available to customer service. Their online accounting provided extreme amounts of data. More than the average person would want or really need honestly, but since I'm in finance/accounting it was a dream; 100% of all payments, capitalized interest, principle and balances. My only single nit-pic was that I couldn't download 100% of my history with one click into a csv file.

Furthermore, the equation they used to calculate daily interest is the friendliest in the industry for consumers;

Daily interest = Rounddown[(Balance * Interest rate / 365, 3]

Your balance is calculated daily, carried to 3 decimal places and even then is rounded down somewhere else in my favor I could never find.

That's ashame OP. Prior to their separation from GM, they were GMAC, and I must say that my experience with them was positive. That was my experience from 15 years ago, however. I am sad to hear that their service might have declined in quality.

GMAC was a well known financial institution in its day.

GMAC was pretty good, I had them also. This isn't about Ally having information or how good, or bad, their website is. This is about their CS, which is outsourced, and how they treat you if you hit some bumps in your financial road. They will do nothing to help you if you actually need help! I believe just about any company will be "just fine" if you never have any problems pop up.

Used GMAC for multiple vehicles over the years and had a good experience every time. My last lease was done through Ally and it sucked. They tried to ding me for all kinds of BS things when I traded it in. NEVER again will I do business with them!

Paid off loan and expected to get the title in a few weeks.

Ended up getting lien release papers to take to the title bureau to "do it myself".

What a lazy-a$$ed way to do business.

I have had no problems. I just pay online. I like to call and give the debit card payment as my money is direct deposit and that is how I do it. They do not take that kind of payment. So, I just do it online. No problems so far
