What's your intake look like? Cleaned/ replaced filter lately?
I agree with above- Octane rating isn't going to effect the air fuel ratio and obviously yours is way off. Have the plugs looked like this for a while or just recently? I think your tune is off. A lot of guys like to simply add more fuel to the map and sometimes it's too much. You have way too much fuel and not enough 1) air or 2) spark. You also said you had the heads off. What gasket did you use when replacing them? |

Ok just checking, well that's the correct plug and heat range. .040" is what they should be gapped but that .035" you're doing won't cause your issues.

So you said in post #8 it runs rich, then in post #9 Fuel trims are excellent and idles lean.
You can't have both. Do you have a cheapo scanner to connect to OBDII to get a real time Fuel trim reading?

I definitely would change them. They recommend every 80-100k miles. Just make sure you get Ac Delco.
