Dealers are required to determine the cause of failure before they can replace an engine under warranty, so they always tear the engine down. You can't compare an ls1 to an ls3 they aren't the same. Guys are putting down 800whp on the ls3 for a long time, that's over 900hp at the crank.. that's damn impressive and proves they are pretty damn strong. Was just reading a guy with 900whp for 20k miles on a turbo set up over in the FI section. Shit happens but this is far from a common problem on these engines.

I only plan on going to around 650 but I did say the same thing when i did my first upgrade i only wanna get to about 500wrhp. A forged bottom end is probably what I need. So doing some math upgrading the bottom end or replacing the block are real close plus replacing the block will be less hassle for me.
