You can tell a lot between a good and bad trans tune. A bad tune required me to rebuild my trans.

See, that’s the thing. You might be able to tell. Not sure I could. And I know a little bit about automatic transmissions. I helped sell and set up old gas engine tranny dynos that later became part of SuperFlow. But it wasn’t my forte. I worked with a guy who rebuilt high performance trans on the side. Mostly T-400 stuff. His motto was always, “You don’t get something for nothing.” The instant you mod it for performance, you’d better beef up the internals or be prepared for fails.

I don’t like the shift parameters of my stock unit but I’m just guessing it was set up that way to live for 5 years/100,000 miles so THEY didn’t have to pay to fix it.

Would anyone say for certain that the factory set up is babying it and there’s plenty of room to tweak it? Especially if you don’t track it?

I need a good tune not to destroy my trans on drag week! I have serviced it and it was clean and put a high flow filter and dipstick in. Thanks

I've been happy - and so has the car, with a JRE tune. It involved engine and trans. But...I don't race it. That's a whole other ball game.

Still miss 'ol rastus, Rontammy.
