So high horsepower cars aren't exactly known for good gas mileage... I spend about $50 - $75 per month in gas. Working from home has it perks.

Wouldn't have gotten a camaro if I had to commute any significant distance.

I averaged 25mpg mixed when I first got it.

Now its 15.8 mpg,I guess I am a little heavier with the right foot now

BTW OP check your paper air filter(if your running the stock box),hold it up to the light or sun and if you can't see light through it change it out.

I doubt there will be no V8's built in ten years but it will be not as common. The folks who want them and are able to afford the premium will have them.

You're putting 93 octane in a V6?

You are literally just throwing money away.

Just get Chevron/Top Tier 87 octane...

I don't think it is even that.

I had to "take over" my idiot brother in laws Chevy Sonic I cosigned on.

After 4 accidents, 1 DUI, 2 missed payments and 18,000 miles in... 10 MONTHS I kicked him out and took the car.

I was spending about $280/mo for the SS in gas.

The Sonic costs about $70/mo in gas.

That's a $210 difference.

The car payment for the Sonic is $297/mo

So in actuality a second car is only costing me about $87/mo to keep miles off my Camaro.

It's really not a bad deal.

I bet if the OP is paying $400/mo in gas he could probably afford a used 4 banger and pay $200/mo in car payment and $150/mo in gas(at the most)

That's quite an ignorant assumption, no offense. Just because its a "V6" doesn't make buying 93 octane a waste. These V6's run 11.5:1 compression. From my understanding, running 87, with the sensitive nature of the knock sensors in these cars can pull a little timing when running 87.

Here's a dyno chart 87 vs 93 in the V6 3.6L - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=120

Better lower end torque and less detonation when running 93.

But anyway ... back to the topic

My Street Triple gets about 40 mpg which is a lot better than the 18 my STi gets. My fuel expenditures a month have plummeted plus I put less miles on the car. Win win.

Haha I pay $400 easy for a v6, maybe 10-15miles each way. Last summer with cruising I was spending closer to $1000

I'm spending roughly $160 to $180 a month on gas on the Camaro. 18 miles one way to work, 3/4 on the highway. Funny thing is, my 2001 Suburban with the 5.3, lifted with 35's and tuned ECU gets better average mpg than my Camaro.
