Agreed. Too much weight and way too much money.

I beg to differ. I own both and AWD is a LOT more fun.

AWD has a huge advantage on the street. AWD also has a nice advantage at the track (stock vs stock). I owned a modded 02 WRX and 04 STi. With the stock tires, I was pulling 1.66 sec 60' times in my STi. I could also launch that thing on the street just as well as the track.

But once you start modding and running on a well prepped track, the advantage starts to swings back in favor of RWD.

RWD is a much better setup for high horse powered applications due to weight transfer going to the rear tires on launch. You get those rear tires to stick, and your going to fly off the line.
For really heavy cars AWD helps a little more.

That's why I love driving my truck around.

Here is a video of my AWD Escalade vs Ginger.

I drive a 2008 awd esv for work and awd is great to keep traction. But it's nice to smoke some tires every now and then.

Weight transfer from rwd helps for traction. But awd is better for all around driving. From what I has seen and experienced. This is just my opinion on the subject.

I would rather smoke the car next to me than my tires.

Id have fun with that, now you can race it in the snow, and with the right tires... take it and race it off road. Might be better if you have it optional.
