Be aware that they ride harshly. I was on a BMW forum for years, and SO MANY people HATE the run-flats, MANY are changing them to regular tires and buying a kit like the Camaro SS has.

It is what it is, just deal with it, its not a big deal.

As for the cylinder deactivation, have you been on this forum for long?
Did you know the automatic with the L99 engine had it?
If you did, then deal with that also.

Sorry not trying to be a jerk, if you knew all this before hand, then don't
complain about it.

If you DID NOT know about these issues, then try to live with it, OR
buy a car with a spare and NO cylinder deactivation.

Have a Great Day

The spare tire issue I knew and can handle. Will probably just acquire a tire and rim and take up most of the trunk. Hoping that some one will come up with a narrow spare on a 20" rim that is stored un-inflated. Then can inflate as needed.

All of the dealers (3) I talked to about the AFM said they have had not any problems with AFM. Should have asked if they had any complaints with lugging or surging, I guess. Better yet should have spend more time searching internet. Test driving a SS from a local dealer was not an option.

Over all still like the car.

Looked at a Stang, Dodge and Z car but could not bring myself to buy one of those. Just feel that would have probably picked the Std if I knew how the AFM feels when it operates. Most of the time it is seamless but others I feel a shudder like the engine is lugging just before it drops out of 4 or a surge when it goes back to 8.

Had AFM on my 07 Chevy truck and never noticed it. As for the other garbage, there is onstar and there is GM roadside service for what 5 years?

And the Government thing is blown out of preportion, just like not everybody is going to like 20in rims or AFM, not everybody is going to like government rules or regulations without them it would be called Anarchy. As a progressive civilization new rules and regulations will be enacted not all will be liked some will be stupid some will be good and some will go away. Now really how bad does AFM affect people's lives in your little camaro? Geese. Im all about getting better gas milage and trying new things thats how technology advances, sure sometime we take a step back to go forward. But look at this way the new camaro has what probably 50-75 more HP if not more than the first camaro and the gas mileage is probably double that of the original. This didnt happen by close minded people saying nope we dont need Cats, nope we dont need better gas mileage. Some people need to get out of the stone age. If you dont like some of these things there are simple tunes to get rid of it or simple parts like the skip shift eliminator. If you dont like the car so much go back to your mini vans and Kia crossovers.

Nope. We assemble the 20" tires & wheels for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the mini spare (donut) is a 17".

Then make a deflated 17" with the Camaro pattern that will fit between the brakes in the trunk. I'd be the first to buy one from you...

We don't make them... Chrysler owns all material & just pays us a labor cost to subassemble, inflate, balance & sequence the parts

He still likes the car, and the issues he named are valid. Lots of Camaro owners bought a Camaro and STILL dislike the fact that GM is controlled in the majority by the US government.

I can tell when it goes into AFM because of the slight drone, but driving it, I don't feel any difference, just gonna wait a bit and get an exhaust system and tune. How often to people in here get flats...been driving 11 years and I have had one flat that required a spare tire where the fix a flat and compressor wouldn't have helped.

In the big city, On Star may work fine but in the country there are dead sports where it doesn't.

And the Government thing is blown out of preportion, just like not everybody is going to like 20in rims or AFM, not everybody is going to like government rules or regulations without them it would be called Anarchy.
With to many laws/rules we become servants and not free. To me limited government is better than an overreaching one. People should quit expecting the government to take care of them. If the government gives u a $1, it probably took $3 dollars from others. We did not become the best nation through rules and laws. When my job went to China, Uncle did not bale me out. So after 39 years with a company I ended up taking a $10/hr job. Its hard to start over at 58. But life goes on and felt lucky to get the job.

As a progressive civilization new rules and regulations will be enacted not all will be liked some will be stupid some will be good and some will go away. Now really how bad does AFM affect people's lives in your little camaro? Geese.
For a 5% - 15% improvement its not worth it to me. I have always tried to not let an engine lug. Most of my driving is in the city and doesn't seem to do much for my driving.

Im all about getting better gas milage and trying new things thats how technology advances, sure sometime we take a step back to go forward. But look at this way the new camaro has what probably 50-75 more HP if not more than the first camaro and the gas mileage is probably double that of the original.
If I was worrying about gas mileage, would have bought a moped. At 3 to 4,000 miles a year, its not a big impact.

This didnt happen by close minded people saying nope we dont need Cats, nope we dont need better gas mileage. Some people need to get out of the stone age. If you dont like some of these things there are simple tunes to get rid of it or simple parts like the skip shift eliminator.
The only issue with that is we loose warranty coverage if we do.

If you dont like the car so much go back to your mini vans and Kia crossovers.
Never had a mini van or a Kia or any other car that was not sold by one of the big three (not counting American motors).
Here is a little story that is cute and has meaning:
Bar Stool Economics: Our Tax System Explained

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten
comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.

The fifth would pay $1.

The sixth would pay $3.

The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12.

The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by
$20." Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the
first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.

But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they
divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).

The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).

The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).

The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to
drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to
the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too.
It's unfair that he got ten times more than I got"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10
back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks !"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they
discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how
our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most
benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible

If that fits in the trunk, then you can indeed drive around with a spare tire in your car. the outside diameter in the front and back match. (someone here should be able to verify if it fits into the trunk compartment.) As long as you don't mind all that extra weight in the back.
Spare tire will not fit down in the valley/indent for where the spare tire would normally go because of the battery mounted there. Like others said, it would have to go into the car and have no storage room in the trunk area. It makes sense to me why there isn't one there, but if you get a blowout on a side wall, fix-a-flat is not going to fix this and you are SOL waiting on a tow truck.
