I'm not a expert but I beleive thats a 2nd gen style part dont remember those on the 1st gens, but if I had a auto I woud really be digging this and those who said it needs a ear indicator maybe some kind of ambient lighting to match the interior.

Powerglide transmissions were available in the 1st gens.

Had one on my 68, that's why I want one on my 2011, I do like your idea of the ambient lighting though.
