update: GM actually pushes u towards their own Dexos approved engine oil. From now on, if you don't use Dexos approved engine oil, they will deny your warranty.

Just an FYI for you guys.

Not true anymore. Mine came with an update to the owners manual which supercedes the dexos requirement and specifies GM6094M oil, which is standard oil.

They should've given you a choice, but you should go with synthetic anyway so it's all good. I only use Mobil 1 and it costs me about $75 I think.

The new mobile one oil out should be Dexos compliant so no worries.

It actually recomends the dexos oil. In my manual it says if it is not available you can use standard oil. So I HIGHLY doubt the warranty would be void for using standard oil as long as you use the right oil 5w-30. Standard oil is 20-30 dollars and synthetic is 60-80 dollars. I use the synthetic as a few extra dollars is protecting many thousands.

As long as your oil cap doesn't say Mobil 1 your good to run anything you want that's recommended in your owners manual. Yes Dexos is the new GM standard.

When i went for my oil change i asked for synthetic but then before they did the lady called me and asked if i was sure and then she said the price for it was 80 and i basically said Screw That! Made no sense that synthetic would cost 60 over regular so i just went with regular and if i cant buy the oil and let them do it for 20 then i guess i will do it myself. Almost seems like the BBB should be in on that price gouging lol.

Exclamation

the 6cyl or 8cyl are both very easy to change the oil on and this will save you money ! the stealership will try to sell you a maintenance one or some package ! Just man up and do it your self this is what camaro owners should know how to do as far as basic maintenance and it will feel good knowing you did it and its done with the products you want to use !

Question: Are the dealers telling you guys to use a synthetic blend as well?
NO!..any dealer who tells you that needs to be investigated!..bunch of s**t!
the 2010 v6 does NOT require synthetic!..you CAN use mineral oil,and you will be fine!..just change your oil when the monitoring system tells you to!..i usually change around 5,000 miles, but i have done that with ALL of my cars over the years, and NEVER had issues with any of them!..just sayin!

Some places will let you bring your oil.
it's a bunch of "crap!" you DON'T need synthetic, and a waste of money IF you change out at 5,000 miles or less!..save your money!..as the asians say!..it's "suuuup to you!
