im doing a drop in K&N filter and an SLP axle back loudmouth kit. these will not void my powertrain warranty because the factory cats and sensors will all be left alone. my main concern is keeping my powertrain warranty in case of a big failure.
im doing pfadt springs and rear sway, BMR sub frame connectors and tunnel brace. if i bust a shock, it will be my baby but that just gives me reason to get coil overs.
if you do any type of tune, they will say that caused almost any drivetrain issue and it would be hard to prove extra HP didnt cause it. they can tell if you tune it and then put the stock tune back in for service or warranty work.

If fbodfather says it isn't true, then it isn't true. GM is not going to court over warranty work. That being said, some stuff voids your warranty, including major modifications. Adding forced induction to a car dramatically increases performance, but GM is not covering a piece that it did not build. Moreover, a warranty is void when something fails as a result of your modifications. When you boost your car and a piston goes shooting through your hood, that's probably your fault.

He stated something such as a CAI, any exhaust changes, etc would make the warranty useless. He also talked about how if they can prove you were on a track or in any competition with your car, it would also void your warranty. To sum it all up, he said as GM has looked to trim cost, somebody had the bright idea to try to limit warranty work and save money there and they are getting aggressive about it, to the point they are willing to go to court over the matter. Take it for what you want, but just passing on the information given to me.
