I'm 22, and the Camaro SS is definitely not for me. The Cobalt SS would be a much more age-appropriate car because it is priced in the same range as the Camaro LS, but it boasts better times. Since I'm someone seeking a sporty car with a lot of power in a price range that is possible for a college graduate, I shouldn't even be considering a Camaro SS. Thus, it is safe to argue that the sporty approach taken by the Camaro should be seen as youthful, but its average drivers will probably not be my age. I won't be my age either because I have to save for a long time to get it.

Well, I was in the same boat as you (21, 22 at graduation) and thought "screw it, LT will be good enough.."

And then I looked at the price comparisons for some of the other cars I had been looking at.. And found out that I can just squeeze a bare bones 1SS in there and still have some room for loans and rent. Don't push a Camaro out of your mind yet, Blur. I did it for a while, but then worked it out to make it work. If you want it hard enough, you can have it.

After all, My dad did it with a new '79 Z28 as a Junior at Ohio State. He was pinching pennies as it was..yet it worked.

3rd camaro

I'm 55 and got my first Camaro, a '67 in '71. I've always wished I could afford the '68 or '69 SS, but it never happened. Now I can get one and I am going for the ABM SS/RS sunroof. I get the "mid life crisis" comments and smirk at it as, people just don't know how much I've always loved the Camaro. My wife has a Corvette, but I always wanted a loaded Camaro SS, now I'm getting it! It was love (again) at first sight when the concept car was rolled out in '06, and I have been patiently waiting for this baby. it should come somewhere around my 56th Bday wooooo hooo!:flag2:

I'm 48 and don't give a hot dam what these young punks think ...We may be old but we can still kick @ss!

Course that CTS-V is pretty sweet.

Some of you guys can relate to this...
I call home..."Honey, guess what I bought!...
her..."another Camaro?" ...
me...Yup, how did you know?"

With my current job, it'll be refreshed by the time I can afford it. I hope I can get a raise soon. Graduating from college and then getting $7.25 per hour wasn't exactly my vision of success. My Impreza is falling apart. The list continues. Hopefully, my POS doesn't die and force me into a situation that compromises my already fragile financial security.

Everyone graduating this year and last year are facing the same problems. Mine may be more pronounced than only a few because I'm pretty much on my own, but that is only a few cases. I'm grateful to have employment at all right now. Many members of my generation have to choose between what we want and financial security in these trying times, and I fear that they will choose what they want over their basic needs. I have to make that choice, and I simply need to eat. If I get a big enough raise and "enjoy" enough ramen noodles, I might be able to afford a Camaro sooner than 2012.

tuna- 1 can
mayo- 1 dollup
sweet pickle- 1 small
mix and stir vigorously till you're hungry enough to eat that crap for the gazillionth time as a sammich.

I beg your pardon but the Camaro is from "Our" era being in our 40's-50's.
I remember like yesterday being 12 years old & walking around the 1969 in showroom.
So if anyone deserves to have or drive this car is us "Originals" others should just be grateful!

Ouch-Ke-bibble.

It just so happened that doing something I love so much actually paid off in the end. It also helps that I too save money where I can for the Camaro. The Magna was a means to save money for gas, as it gets 55MPG fairly regularly rather than 18MPG on the day Jesus returns on my Explorer. I also do most work on my vehicles, so I save a buttload of money there. Fairly uncommon for a college student I know..

Heck, doing my own work in my apartment in exchange for a rent price slash has helped more than once or twice.

But never the less, the fact that my internships would have paid 12/hr part time doesn't help my argument any.. -_-; This may be the sole reason why I may be able to afford a Camaro. (Duncan Aviation paying non-A&Ps 15/hr starting.)

Oh, and Barry626: The 'Others' you speak of are too afraid of GM folding to drive the Camaro now FWIR. They'd rather drive failstangs. So, it's come to my undertanding that we 20somethings that choose to drive the Camaro are reincarnated Camaro owners that pushed their cars to the limit years ago..and lost. We're back for round two!

When you're a Camaro driver in your first life..karma brings you back as a Camaro Driver. There is no escape from destiny..

God knows more 48 year old guys know more about Camaros and are more deserving of them than some 18 year old kid who only wants it for the image, and that's coming from me, I'm only 21. Then again, there is something epic and very novel of a young, good-lookin' guy rolling up in a muscle car... that's basically the image they tried to market in the 60's - The Hollywood image. Remember that old GTO commercial? And all the pop culture material revolving the 'cool kids in highschool and their Camaros and Mustangs'?

There's a side to both agegroups when it comes to these cars...

The older muscle maniac: has a passion, knows the car, loves it for what it is and is well-respected for it.

The young, bad-boy: has the spitting image for the ideal driver, knows what he wants, goes for it no matter what.

I say both older guys and young alike are perfect candidates for the new Camaros... as long as the older guys act their age and the younger guys drive and think responsibly. I am similarly glad, however, that they are trying to market this towards younger folks a little. Us Gen Y's never had a truly powerful muscle car we could afford brand new until now, it's our turn to build memories we can dwell on in our 40's and 50's. You baby boomers always complain about how the young kids like these imports, but honestly it's all we could afford! XD ... ... until now.
Refreshing for a change to see someone your age that has your Smarts!

First, What do they drive.
Second, NO NO you are not too old and Do Not let anyone else tell you different.

The Camaro is for those of us that like Bold and Sharpe Styling which is rare today(the Camaro and the New CTS Sedan and Coupe are a good start to bring it back).

The Camaro is for those of us that want a car that makes our pulse quicken just by looking at it.

Oh YEAH, and I'm in my 20s.

Just say the following to them the next time they rag on you:

When you turn your car on does it return the favor? My Camaro will.

Well I am 39, but ours is just for the kids so to speak, as we now have two toddlers and a Corvette is no longer practical for us.

All I know is that this is the first car since the original Viper concept (the one with all the pipes sticking out everywhere) that I've gotten excited about. That one wasn't meant to be, but this one is. As far as age goes...as long as your eyesight and reflexes / reactions are still okay, have a go of it! At least you'll have the necessary experience to handle / respect it's performance!

The only guilty part that I'm feeling right now, is how I'm going to break it to my Trans Am that it's loosing it's comfy spot in the garage! It's not going to like that one bit...NOT ONE BIT!!!!!!!!
