I expect people to be civil in discussions no matter who drives what. But I guess that's too much to ask of some people.

And I'm not a "Furd fan boy", I'm a car guy. I just happen to own a Ford Mustang, and a Jeep as well.

It was CNBC who had that expert. Fox was even worse they can't bring up GM without saying "we bailed them out" and "when will you get a free car from GM...ha ha ha" . these people are about as funny as...well it's like watching Anchorman actually.
Actually my point wasn't that Ford doesn't build good cars, it's this "GM doesn't build cars that people buy, Ford does." I swear if the media has as much knowledge on other subjects as they do cars ...
Newsflash moron-media , GM is still the biggest automaker in the country, with almost it's entire lineup turned over in the past 3 years. It's just too bad they care so much about the "bailout" and not say the 5 BILLION we gave Pakistan last month. why worry about that.

The statement "I'd buy Ford stock because they are building cars people want to buy." has the direct implication that he would not buy GM stock specifically because they don't build cars that people want to buy, which is an absurd notion given the fact that GM sells more cars than Ford (and therefore, has more cars that people want than Ford does). Since this 'expert' apparently didn't know, or didn't care, about that rather important fact AzCamaroFan asked a rhetorical question where the implied meaning is that the 'expert' is so clueless that he wouldn't be able to provide anything to back up his statement.

btw, why did you feel compelled to answer a question that was clearly directed to a dumb***?

Ford's EPS is only 1.67......hahaha

Oh, wait....GM's EPS is -58.56. Doesn't mean much right now, but we'll see at their next earnings statement.

An IPO with only a 3.5% increase after day 1 isn't what I'd call much of an IPO jump. At least they picked a good day when other factors lifted the market today.

If I were going to own either stock right now, it wouldn't be GM's, unless I was going to sell what I got today at 33 at whatever it opened at tomorrow. Otherwise I got a feeling it'll be worth less than 33 by the end of tomorrow. The other way I MIGHT own it is if I was going long. Maybe keep it a couple of years.

I'm a huge fan of the cars/trucks, but NOT a fan of GM's stock. Not right now anyway. My guess is after the honeymoon, GM stock will be around 25 or so by the end of the year.

Let me add this: I do hope they make good with the stock, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'm not sure why anyone would go out of their way to buy gm stock right now. Purchased today so they can sell the overpriced stuff onto their clients next week. What has changed with GM that you think the stock is 300% worth more today then two years ago?

A lot of people obviously don't understand as much about the stock market as they're letting on. . . If you don't account for the number of shares, the price per share really doesn't matter.

The IPO price is pretty high. If you are looking to buy GM shares, I'd recommend waiting until they come down.

What ever makes you feel better, GM is still worth twice as much as Furd.

From all the BS slingin in this thread you would think Furd was selling at $50 or something but no, a 2nd class company still sells at second class prices.

Which can only mean all the cars they sell are worth jack squat.

----

And the price will go up and down for GM for a while, as folks get in and out quick. Smart rich folks bought millions of stock at 33 then sold at 35.99, cleaning up. It will take a good 6-12 mopnths for the stock price to steady out as more folks start to buy for the long term. But for now, folks will jump in and out grabing profits as much as they can, which has not one thing to do with GM, but how the market works.

What are you talking about? Do you understand what a market cap is? From an investment standpoint, at this point in time, Ford is valued higher. Period. It's mostly because of debt and bad public image of GM, but it's a fact. Do you think because Google trades in the $600 range that it is worth 23 times Microsoft, which is trading around $26 right now? LOL! If you don't account for number of outstanding shares, pps means jack.
