This is an incentive running right now on vehicles on the ground of course. It is being run like a rebate or such. This also goes for College people, they get it too right now.

that's true too... as some credit unions are considered eligible for the gsm discount, and by joining the credit union you are techincally a partial owner thus extending the offer to you aswell.

i dont know how much closer you could get to gmpp pricing considering the thread has a link to gmpp's website which is where those figures came from.

I'm no math wizard either but we are talking about 2000% above MSRP. Not 2000% above cost. If you go to Macys and there is a tie there with a tag from the manufacturer that says $20 then the MSRP is $20. Would Macys sell them for more then that? Hell no.

I think this thread has lost focus.

Shouldn't it be for listing dealerships offering GMS/GMU, etc?????

Anyway, why is everyone getting so worked up about the dealerships selling with incentives?? Those dealerships get their money back from GM so they don't lose a dime. They are still getting MSRP.

They have a choice to accept the incentive beacuse they have to wait for the rebate vice getting cold hard cash from the customer that day.

EITHER WAY, THEY STILL GET FULL MSRP FOR THE CAR!!!

Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how multiple dealers have explained it to me.

How do you find out if belonging to a particular Credit Union makes you eligible for the GSM discount?

Hello Rico,

I understand completely about the loyalty aspect. The car business needs more of that. We did move the vettes inside so they don't get damaged from the elements. I am pretty excited myself about the new Camaros. I have to get one in the future. My wife doesn't think that I need another one. Let me know if you hear of anyone else in the area that is interested in getting one. We treat all of our customers the way that they should be treated.

Matt

My mother worked for GMAC for 35yrs and one of her benefits was that her qualified family members can get GMS pricing... I have never bought a new vehicle that was not a GM product and i always have gotten GMS pricing. All the dealerships and sales people i have dealt with have been extremely helpful, even though there commission was probably very low on these vehicles. But remember also, they are not spending several hrs haggling over price. I don't see any reason why i should not be offered the same on the Camaro.

I don't think this is a fair statement (the underlined one) because a dealership decides not to honor Supplier or GM pricing on something you won't see many of, again, profit is only bad in the Car and Oil business.. and why is MSRP such a dang ugly word? You will purchase that pair of Nikes at 1000% markup, a Tie at 2000%, heck a TV/Stereo at 100%.. just not a car at 3%, I get it.

I have really had about enough of the demonizing of dealerships everywhere I look. PSST. Hey guys, it hasn't been a fricken banner year to begin with, now all customers think "Good, let's hold em hostage and make em sell for nothing... THEY HAVE TO!" gah, I better stop because I know probably none of the Consumers here really care as long as they get what they want for what they want.

I do not know of this IDL, but then again I missed the last one a few days back. SOrry I ranted a bit, wasn't aimed at you persay Bolt
That is why customers can get frustrated. Guys like us generally know more than the salesperson. I'm sure your a nice guy and not trying to rip anyone off, but I hope you can see our side of it.

MSRP is an ugly word, because a year or so from now, a 2010 camaro or any other GM car will be worth %60 of MSRP.

What if your dealer backs out of that deal? With the Z06 they did not honor GMS or the like for something like 6 months or better.

I am a bit confused since you can not submit a number to GM without a VIN and GM could post their "bulletin" that they will not be doing GMS when the vehicles are about to come out and then the dealer won't want to take a bath on a vehicle of $2,000..

I had a irrate guy sent me an email, he was irrate because I said I could not honor GM supplier pricing on it at this point..(dealership rules currently) I told him with the limited allocation that we had.. GM would not reimburse us as far as we know.. etc. I am now a Liar I guess for trying to be a staright shooter. Lesson one I learned in this business, Consumers will always be angry when they can not acquire what they want for the price they want and without fail it has been true.

Help me out here some.
That was me! I want to buy local, I want to support the local economy, but I won't take a $2000 hit to do it. These cars value will drop like a rock the way it is. I was upset because you said it was 'limited production' I felt that was a ploy to not honor GM supplier, when GM said they would offer it.

Point is simply this, The Government will see more profit from your car than the dealer will.

90% of people don't want to let or care if a dealer makes $100

99% of all consumers don't give a rats that a salesperson may only sell 10 cars a month at $100 per car because of the consumer mentality of "Invoice" or better.

99% of consumers don't care if a dealership stays open for the next 60 days

89% of consumers will ditch their previous salesperson over $200 on the next purchase without a second thought.

99.9% of consumers will tip a hair stylist $10 or so but wouldn't give their saleperson a cupon for a free whopper.

etc. etc.
I've bought 5 NEW GM cars/trucks in the last 10 years. two 99 camaro's, 03 and 07 Silverado and 08 G8. I have yet to meet a salesman that I felt earned his money. I want a guy who knows more about a car than I do, who can deal with me directly instead of referring to a manager for every dime of negotiation.
I buy from GM, because I love GM. not because some salesman sold me on a car.

I will say, sorry if I came off as an a-hole in any emails. Like I said, dealing with car dealers can be frustrating. Good luck to you and your dealership. I hope no GM dealerships go under, but I know thats not reality.

ALSO, sorry this thread got so off topic. Maybe a mod can separate it out? I would really like to see the dealers honoring discounts.

Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how multiple dealers have explained it to me.
This is not true and here is an example:

GMS: 31012.53
SUPPLR: 32401.34
MRM: 33915.00
MEMO 1508.25
GSU: 439.80

That is taken from an invoice on an Impala SS. GM Employee is $31,012 from a $33,915 MSRP and the dealer gets the Memo money back of $1,508.25.

The dealer would lose $1403 to sell it at Employee price less the advertising (Only if a true GM Employee)

To sell at Supplier price the dealer get MUCH less. It would be about the same as selling it at invoice price plus I believe like 1% of advertising.

Let us all keep in mind that without a dealer making some money there is no dealer to bring your car back to, no free oil changes, no loyalty discounts, and a good chance that with less dealers = less compition = more money out of consumers pocket and many more drawbacks. All for about $20 per month on a 60 month term. ( Yes I am devils advocate here as I am on the other side looking out )

Just throwing this out there for those concerned about the wellfare of those who have families and work at dealerships and all.

Other than that, shoot I sell 90% of my cars at invoice now as it is, I personally sometimes don't even know how dealerships can keep up right now.. oh, that's right, they are not!

Regardless of all of this, I am a consumer too and I am always for a good deal and hope everyone can get one with some ease, I just would not want that deal at the expense of someones job.
