True dat. I got one i didnt want. Now every time I hit a big bump, I hit my head on the roof. But I do find I use it more that I thought I would. Mostly to cool off the car real quick. Hate the sun and light in my eyes.

Order it: Get what you want for invoice and wait x number of weeks to get it.
Buy one off the lot: With almost everything you want and still get it at invoice, low/no mileage, and have it in a week! Used to order all my cars, and came to the conclusion that the same factory that built my ordered unit could screw up the one on the lot just as much. Can't beat sight seen before pay! And don't be afraid to ask to have it trailered from another dealership if locating one. Thats how I got mine with 31 miles on it from another state 175 miles away! |

I can tell you are a person of discriminating and impeccable taste. IBM is hard to find on a lot, but I got lucky and stumbled accross the exact one I wanted at a tiny little dealership in rural Maine when I wasn't thinking about buying one for 6 months. The odds are probably better where you live for finding one, and I think the only thing that might cause and issue is the CGM stripes...which can be added/painted on afterwards.
Don't settle for less than what you want though....you will regret it.

Having no sunroof on the car you want will be hard to find, because most of the cars out there on the lot have sunroofs. I love my sunroof. I'm tall and I like the breeze on my head. In my part of the country I rarely see the CGM's around. Your best bet maybe Classic Chevy in Dallas. They usually have over 60 Camaros at one given time. Better odds there I would say. If you have been to a local dealer in your area, try hunting down the car you want with them. If nothing proves successful you could just order it. Stripes are easy to install at the dealer. Don't worry about those not coming with your car. Easy add on from what I have heard. I was playing with the stripe option when I was hunting down my car, but decided it looked cleaner without them. If you find your vehicle on a lot that would be best because you can drive it sooner.. Otherwise order that baby! Good luck my friend

Thanks to everyone so far for the responses. I had no idea how many would reply. I was on the fence about which route to go with and may still be. But I had the same thoughts as most: if they have what you want then get it, if not then order, but don't settle.
Back when I bought the truck in my sig I settled for the color. I didnt' really want Black, I wanted two-tone Blue and Beige. But this truck had everything else to the letter of what I wanted and the Black was just so damn sexy. Originally in the Camaro I wanted a CGM car with black stripes. But everytime I see an IBM it always catches my eye and I really like it. Plus I have always wanted a Dark Blue sports car. So I figure that is the winning combo. As for the sunroof mentioned in one of the reply's I do NOT want a sunroof. I have never really been a fan of them. And as posted above, it seems like most of the 2SS/RS cars have them. Can anyone tell me if GM will install the Rally Stripes that come down just past the mail slot? I have seen a few this way and I have been considering that as well.

order if you have the patience or buy off the lot and potentially settle for something other then what you want.
I bought off of the lot and I really don't like that the 45 miles it had on it were probably flogged to hell. oh well : (

If you can find EXACTLY what you want.....get it off the lot. BUT whatever you do, don't settle for anything less.....if you can't find it on a lot that exact.....ORDER IT!

Thanks again everyone. I think I will probably order it. That is what I had originally planned, but I have been being overly impatient lately.
Some of you posted about getting the car at Invoice. I tried searching the Order/Pricing threads to get an idea of what that might be, but still don't think I understand. I know salesman have come out before to show me the "dealer invoice", but I am not that dumb. I know that they have made up documents to make you believe you are getting the invoice price for the car. I went on Chevy.com and built the car that I wanted and it showed $36,815. What would be the approx dealer invoice price for this car? I am hoping that the dealer will work with me some you know. I have thought about making a drive out to Buckalew Chevy since I have heard a few good stories about them. Also was going to possibly see what SS-Eric could come up with, but don't want to bother him until I am sure that I am ready to order. I hate wasting peoples time if I can avoid it.
