You won't be disappointed by Ted Jannetty's tune. How can you beat a free tune provided when you buy the SCT?

How much and what do I do with the SCT tuner I got with my Maggie? Think I can sell it on eBay?

If you e-mail your tune to Ted, he will edit it and email it back to you. You data log and send that back and he finishes the tune. I think it was $100. Since you already have the correct tuner, no need for a second one.

I'd PM Ted and get the info straight from him. I haven't heard anyone complain about his tunes yet.

You can check with Ryne @ Cunningham Motorsports (check the Cali thead) and see what he can do for you too. He's a big LS tuner and is well known in the Vett world. I don't think he uses the SCT tuner though.

Also check on fuel pressure and make sure your injectors are sized right for the HP you are producing. Most set ups are good with a BAP up to 550 HP. beyond that I would consider Dual Pump rather than BAP. If you run short on fuel you will be pulling the motor and doing rotating assembly. Also now with boost you will be getting more blow by and need a PVC catch can and crankcase vent. There is a lot more than just a SC to run it safe and keep from the real expensive rebuilds. You joined the club now the piper will be stepping forward to get paid.

Nope, he uses HPT...

That is what I thought, but didn't want to give bad info.

Welcome to the world of FI !!!

Get it tuned and enjoy the heck out of it. GTA has had his tuned multiple times in different locations, so he knows how much of a difference a good tune is really worth. (Usually a lot - both in power and safety for the ring lands)

Many good words of advice on this thread.

P.S. Thanks for posting on PQ's maggie install attempt since you just did it yourself.

Great job on the install. Something to be proud about. But a correct tune is absolutely the most important thing to do properly to prevent engine damage. Working with Jannetty is the best advice to go with unless you have a local experienced LS tuner with a dyno. You will have peace of mind when you get on the throttle.

Good luck- you are almost there.

tune

WOW, I just use the canned tune from Magnuson and had an axleback exhaust. I don't see a problem with using the stock tune as Magnuson provides a very, very conservative tune. I took the car to the track and dynoed it, car ran great no detonation. Decided I needed MORE power so I visited Andy at ADM and had 2" long tube headers and a 3 inch exhaust installed as well as a BAP and a 3.6 pulley. Andy provided the custom tune at that point. I put 10k miles on the car before I had the tune changed.

I made it to work just fine averaging almost 26 MPG this morning during 30 miles of freeway driving, very mellow and 6th gear most of the way. Temp stayed under 200 and averaged 190 to 196 most of the way. I'm sure that the Maggie canned tune is probably fine, I just don't want to take any chances. I have a K&N intake and 3" Stainless Works free flowing exhaust from the cats back. I need to get some meters installed soon. I don't feel comfortable doing the WOT throttle for a quarter mile that Ted suggests unless I have to. I'm still trying to get a custom dynotune locally here, just not getting a response to the email I sent Nick at Newtech. I'm very happy with the Maggie so far, it has a little whine starting around the two grand mark. Can't wait to run it at the track and also find out how may horses she's putting out the back.

Congrats on your install! Welcome to the family!
I prefer to stay out of the tuning conversations... if you dont mind

(I do think the hose to your bypass actuator looks kinked... it should not be bent like that... if you havent adjusted it yet, it might be a good idea. The hose barb there is plastic and will snap under enough pressure )

Than Jessika, some one else noted that to me in another post and I fixed it right away. Thanks for looking after me. I love my Magnacharger!
