Also not in the manual is changing the oil at 50 % on the DIC, but I do that too............

Also not in the manual is taking your Camaro out on the 1/4 mile track, but I did that too..........

Guess I didn't read the manual very well...........

I have only done one change since I bought her, I bought the filter and oil on sale at Wally world, and had a friend that owns one of those quick change places do it since I know he will do a good job. all in all it cost about 50 all together. Put in the mobile one synthetic. thinking about doing it myself next time though, it's real easy. probably get some ramps to help do it.

Personally I hate mobil 1. They lie all the time in their ads. Well so do all the other "full synthetics" but mobil 1 was the first to advertise they where a full synthetic even though their base oil comes from dead dinosaurs. Ill never use their stuff. Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Redline are the only true synthetics. The rest are liars.

all you need to do is keep your reciets and write the info on the top piece of the filter box to keep your warranty right?

That is what I am doing. All my receipts are stapled on a piece of paper along with filter box tops. Then again I am recording everything for this Camaro. I have one hell of a spread sheet going for many different items on this Camaro.

Oil is like politics. Everyone has an opinion and everyone is an expert. So here is my 2 cents. I have done many oil changes and read a lot of articles and talked to the people that make the additives for motor oil and gasoline. For the most part, oil is oil. The thing I look for is the "donut" on the label. It says this product meets or exceeds the standards of the API. The American Petroilum Institute. Mobil 1 and the Valvoline snythetic both meet the same standard. Why is Mobil 1 twice the price? Advertising. I'll take some Valvoline please. If you changing you oil sooner than the DIC recoments makes you sleep better, go for it. In my 45 + years working on cars, I personally have never heard of an engine failure that could be attributed to oil breakdown.
There are many myths out there but there is also a lot of good info. Do your home work and ask questions. Why do they want you to change oil every 3000 miles? SO THEY CAN SELL OIL!

You are obviously not aware of the mythical issue with the timing chains on the LLT engine. Well documented on this forum. Just saying. DO NOT go by the DIC. Change it around 5,000 miles at most. Should NOT have any issues.

FYI to Canadians, Royal Purple is on sale at Canadian Tire this weekend. I saved 20% per quart. I also bought my first oil pan, funnel, and Fram oil filter. All I need is this snow to melt to do my first oil change of my life.

Imo, don't use fram filters from here on lol. I hear bad stories about them. Go to your local GM, and buy the AC Delco ones rather.

Seriously? I can't be the only person here who is installing a FRAM oil filter in their Camaro? Anyone else use FRAM oil filters? Did you experience any problems?
