I took a beating on my 2007 Avalanche LTZ. I really was expecting to get more than I did and that is why I still don't have my Camaro. Even the dealership that I bought the Avalanche from (Courtesy) in Toronto has tons of U.S. cars and trucks. They are making a killing. Do yourself a favour and buy the car in the U.S. I sold my truck privately for $6000 CDN more than the dealership offered me.

Dealer wanted to give me $5500 for my 2001 Camaro with 61K miles on it. I sold it myself for 10K.
Most of the time you can sell it yourself for more.

You also have to realize that the dealerships are businesses. They are there to make money. With the economy the way it is they have to try and buy smart and maximize profits. They want to buy inventory as cheap as possible just like you want to buy yours as cheap as you can. You can't expect to trade in a used car, even slightly used, and get anywhere close to new price for it. You wouldn't pay new price for it if you were buying it used, would you? I do feel they were a little low on what they want to give you for the LT, but with a little negotiation they will generally give you a little more than their first offer. But, rightfully, they can't give you anything close to what you paid for it new because it isn't new.
