i dont have any prob with the AFM so far, and i punished now 35000km in nearly 10 month onto the car.

No problems with mine so far, but hopefully it's getting tuned out today or tomorrow. When it kicks on and off, it sounds like butt. IMO, it has no place on this type of car.

Also took off AFM here...No problem...A little tick at start up...When i take outthis spring i will go back to dealer and check to see about recall/bulletin...Besides that car is fine...

To answer the original post, I eliminated my AFM/DoD about a year after purchasing my car new. A little more than a year later I'm very happy with it turned off. Only a very slight decrease in gas mileage on the highway. And I'm talking about 1 MPG or less being lost with it turned off.

On a similar topic, has anyone with a tune had their lifters replaced under warranty? Since this is a known issue I'm wondering if the dealer gave you any problems? Mine are just starting to make a little noise, not enough to bring the car to the dealer but I'm watching it closely.
