The downside of re-keying your car (besides the additional cost) is that if, in the event that at some point you lose all of your keys, a dealer won't be able to make you a key by your vin#. So if you go this route, remember to keep a copy of the new key code in a safe & secure spot just in case.

Or....

You can bring the car back to your place, leave the gate unlocked, leave a note in the car saying, "If you're stealing this car, make sure you total it."

Then you'll be able to get a completely different one. A better one with all the option you wish you had.
