18 and am getting a 2LT. Parents said they would pay for a $20k car and anything more than that I have to pay for. However I received $10k in scholarships so we decided on a $30k limit. Yes I have a job and more than enough for a down payment, but I know I will be needing that money later, even with such generous and loving parents.

I agree with you here. See my above post for my situation. For this reason I asked if my parents would buy me a used $15k cobalt or civic or something then give me the other $15k when I got out of college, but they said they would be there to help when the time comes and that I had to spend the money on a car. I think its cause my dad really wants to drive the Camaro too lol!

Im 23, and WANT to get one.. however I just graduated from college in Dec. and am without a job. I had a gauranteed job when I graduated in California, lost it due to layoffs throughout the company because of the economy, moved accross country for another job I got first week of January and have since lost that one as well due to economy.. Horrible time to graduate from college :( I have been trying to get another job for almost a month now with no luck. I am living off my savings and a little money comming in from some part time work just to pay the groceries right now, So once I do get a job, my Student loans are going to be about ready to start having to be paid.. and I need to replenish the money I have spent from not having an income...so it's gonna be a year or two before I can get a used one. (Won't buy new, as I can't justify buying a new one when I can get a used one a year old with 10k miles on it for prob. 5-10k less)

So all you "Teens" getting a NEW car, congrats, and enjoy it, but make sure you consider yourself blessed, as you don't know how fortunate you are right now, compared to A LOT of people during these hard times.

im 34 and this is the last car I plan to purchase brand new, Only car I have ordered to my specifacations. I am a laborer/pipelayer so you can bitch and complain all you want about me standing in the middle of the road holding a shovel and getting paid to watch someone else work. Your highways depend on me. This car is not going to be a daily driver for me since I can get really dirty or greesey. But I love the new looks of this car and been waiting for it to go into production. My last Camaro I had was a 95 rs with t-tops and loved it so much that after the 2010 gets here I am going to be searching craiglist for a 94 or 95 just so they can sist side by side. I did notice here in Phoenix their are some 67's for sale if anyone was interested.

I am 18 ordered a 2ss/rs I will pay every single penny of it out of my own pocket the money I work hard for and not the money of my parents. The only thing I need is a cosigner which will be my father and thats it.

+1. i'm in a very similar situation. graduated in may, had a job all summer in my field, but that contract ended & i've been looking for work since september. my savings are almost gone & i'm still waiting to hear about applications i've put in around town lately.

everyone who's young & getting this car should really count your blessings!

Basically, it seems like no one here has a problem with us teens owning these cars if we actually put forth the effort and buy them ourselves. I bought my 07 GT by myself and with my own money on my 17th birthday. The thing that makes everyone mad is these kids with seemingly no values or even pride; relying on mommy and daddy's funds for everything. People like me will always enjoy our toys more, simply because of the knowledge that it's our hard work that got them for us.

I couldn't agree more. I've had so many things in life handed to me on a, well not silver... maybe copper?... platter, and I find myself having no pride in them. I'm about damn ready to work my ass off for something that I can truly call my own. It will be mine, and I will have pride in it for as long as I own, which will be a very long time.
