IMO, Portal is the most innovative game out in years. The puzzles are challenging, the dialog is funny and the story is good too. The story ties in with Half-life, which is pretty cool.

I guess I could really say the same for any game during the first hour of play. Shoot bad guys, throw grenade, shoot bad guys, duck, shoot bad guys. If you'd played on you would have seen some more interesting and challenging puzzles. Like this (really long vid, first 3 minutes should give a good idea though):
