You should list mods and post pics. You could find someone to trade.

The "good" news I suppose is that the factory paint makes a good base for your new color, if you insist on doing it. The car does not need as much prep work as is normally the case with repainting.
If I repaint my car, it'd be so I don't have to deal with the shittastic factory paint...

[QUOTE=1up5dn;3142701]I was looking into a paint job for an older Camaro and the shop I deal with said a decent paint job would start at $6,000. Then he asked what color we wanted and we said we wanted it to be black to match our 2011 Camaro. Then he said "oh, black starts at $10,000!

Black shows everything and must be perfect. Don't know who thought black was the cheapest?

black does cost less. its cost is less because it hardly has any toners in it

cheaper? yes, better? no.
vinyl compared to paint is far weaker and has no natural uv protection the the paint gets from the clear coat.Vinyl will fade, dry out, and will start to breakdown and pit.
but if you cant afford paint it is a good alternative

Take it from someone who did do a full color change all parts off; it will be over 10K for a quality job that will hold up and look good close up not just from a distance (mine was 12K). I saw cars at local car shows and when I saw a great paint job I asked the owner for the name and contact of the shop. I then went and met with and got 5 quotes from shops and asked them how they would do the work. I did not pick the cheapest (you do get what you pay for) but also did not get the most expensive. Have not been sorry at all with the quality and the finished product and very happy I made it what I wanted.
